Pool booking let down.

Nice stay but let down by the pool. Hotel nice and modern, great location, breakfast ok, room was lovely clean and modern. Now the pool situation. On arrival we were informed the we are only allowed one 30min slot in the pool per day & this has to be pre booked. We arrived around 1pm the only pool slot left was 3.30pm and 7.30am the next day. So after a short walk we returned to get our 3.30pm pool slot. After standing in a queue to get in the pool it was now 3.40pm, my partner had to nip to the toilet while queuing and on return was told your too late and have missed your slot. I put my clothes back on and missed out on what would have been 10mins in the pool. We didn’t even bother going to the next day as we felt it was a total waste of time and energy. Next visit to York we will definitely not book this place.

I stayed here with my young family in December 2024. The hotel is a short walk from the city centre, town walls, Shambles and other attractions. Ideally for little ones who don't want to walk too far. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel. Food was all freshly made and there was lots of choice for adults and children. It was fairly priced also. The leisure facilities were OK. We used the sauna and the pool, both of which were quite small considering the size of the hotel so if that is your priority then maybe the hotel isn't for you. The rooms were modern and had everything we needed. We had adjoining rooms which worked really well for our family setup. The reservations setup was SO odd however. We asked for an adjoining room and they said they couldn't guarantee it but would do all they could and we wouldn't know until we arrived. That was a possible game changer as we have 3 kids so if we didn't have an adjoining room we would have had to split up. I've never come accross such a strange policy before and we never did understand why they couldn't say it. Would we stay here again? For the price and location, yes we probably would.

3rd visit in recent times and must say the worst, check in delayed even though we were early and had food in the restaurant so the staff knew we were in the building and waiting. Room wasn't very clean, stains on the carpet and previous guests rubbish under the fridge shelving unit and a stained duvet on child's bed. To make matters worse on day 3 beds were not made although towels had been changed cleaner must of decided we weren't worthy of the full service? Pool is bookable but not very well managed by reception staff you get 30 mins at peak times but invariably 25 mins is all you get before staff are bellowing at you to get out... Lots of dogs in the hotel for me isn't a problem but some may not agree. Just feels tired and understaffed most staff are very pleasent but many complained about car parking charges and food costs.

generally a disappointing experience. Children not kept under control. running around bar area where drinks etc are carried. no one stopped them dogs were sitting on seats, sofas etc being fed by owners . not so good for next person using that seat. staff did not gently ask them to put dogs on floor. children noisy in room above us. had to listen to bumps and screams and thudding. eventually complained to reception, but no improvement.TV sound must have been turned down and so low we could not hear it. Not able to connect our devices as unable to access back of TV. menu for evening meals was limited, and never varied. Gluten free options were very limited. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were lovely, though one lady very sharply spoken and unsmiling. we avoided her.Hotel is well situated for access to town and bus to Outlet centre. Parking good, but charged £16.00 per day. limited seating in bar/ lounge for number of guests in hotel. I am sure it could be arranged better. the seats by front door were not popular, which left limited choice.

Fabulous location to walk into York centre. Staff could not do enough for us. The room was lovely and clean. We ordered a vegan breakfast which was the best we have ever had in a hotel. Car parking on site and pay at reception. Will definately be coming back.
