Following a few days in Sydney, we had booked two nights at the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains for our first visit to see the Blue Mountains. The location of the resort is perfect for exploring the wonders of the Blue Mountains, and Sublime Point with its magnificent views is only a relaxed half hour walk from the hotel. The Fairmont is a big resort complex set in large and well maintained grounds, and there are many facilities for families. Checking in was quick and our room was comfortable, well equipped and had lovely views across the hotel grounds and to the mountains. We had breakfast and two evening meals in the hotel, and had mixed experiences. Our first meal was in the Embers restaurant where the food, when it eventually came, was excellent. Here the service was very slow as there were only a couple of young servers who were doing the best they could but the restaurant seemed to be understaffed. On the second nights we ate in the Italian Trattoria restaurant which unfortunately was very poor, in terms of service, food and ambience. Breakfast was fine if a little busy. There are two bars in the hotel and in particular the Two Doctors Whisky Tavern was excellent and had live musicians. Special mention to the bartenders Edward and Jacob who were excellent! The concierge service was great in advising us what to see and do, and the concierge Michael Leavey was really friendly and helpful. The resort could certainly benefit from some updating and redecoration, but taking everything into consideration we really enjoyed our short stay there.

The Fairmont resort was fabulous! Our standard suite was very comfortable with a lovely view of the grounds and valley. We had an incredible meal at Embers Grill, enjoyed the excellent buffet breakfast, had dinner on our second night at the Sublime Lounge and finished off the night with cocktails in the Two Doctors Whiskey bar. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and attentive - we could not fault them. The indoor pool was awesome, and the grounds and nearby bush walks were great. This really is a resort - you don't have to leave to get anything really, and can just relax and enjoy the facilities and dining options. Wonderful resort with great staff and facilities - we will definitely be returning and can highly recommend The Fairmont Resort.

I stayed 2 nights at the top floor @ Level 4 in the premium *Megalong Wing* with the hotel’s best views of the stunning long valley, forest reserve, mountains & beyond. Stretching for what must be more than a hundred miles. The hotel service was more than first class. Seems the various departments within the hotel were all coordinating & ensuring that I had a seamless & enjoyable stay where they anticipated all my needs. That’s truly magnificent. At the fine dining no. 1 sublimepoint, the total experience was exemplary. The service, the view & food was a complete experience of pleasure & joy. Special thanks to Chef Paddy Morris & Erin the restaurant senior waitress who should be the restaurant manager. Special thanks to others must include Ben Mellor the GM, Edison Simoni the Duty Manager, Leisa Front Office, Serena of the communications Dept. & Michael of Concierge. Good hotel but very bad restaurant management

Hotel was good but our stay was very much tainted by the very bad management of the on-site restaurant - Azzurro Trattoria. We ate at the Azzurro in February. Booking was made for 5:30 PM as we had a two-year-old with us. We arrived at 5:30 and were welcomed by Faith and shown to a table for 5. We ordered 3 main courses, a salad, a child's meal and a pizza to be served first as an entry. The Pizza arrived very quickly but then after about one hour the other 3 meals had not been served. During this time a number of other groups arrived after us and had finished their meals and left. I asked to speak to the manager in charge and the Food & Beverage manager came to the table. He accepted no responsibility for the late arrival of our meals and just kept saying that our food was not late leaving the kitchen. He later changed his story and gave two reasons for our long wait, one being that they were waiting for us to tell them to serve the main meals after we had finished the pizza. I paid the bill of $211 and on exit Faith apologised to us and said that there had been a computer mix-up with our order. She was very professional and understanding . At no time did the manager apologise to us or accept any responsibility. At about 9 o'clock that night the Food & Beverage manager rang our room and said that there was a mistake in our bill and it should have been $311 and not $211. I said that was certainly not true and said he was dishonest, and I would submit a written complaint. I then rang reception and gave feedback on our experience, and they said they would investigate. The next morning our bill for the Azzurro Trattoria was reduced by $40. Management like we observed can only do damage to the Azzurro Trattoria and the Sofitel brand.
Nostalgia at its best. Always love the Fairmont!

Had a truly wonderful 2-night stay in the 2-bedroom Mt Solitary Suite. Set at the end top corner of the resort overlooking the beautiful gardens, the horse stables and Megalong Valley, our stay was magical, serene and very special. The Suite is luxurious with a massive lounge, fireplace and two ensuites as well as the all important coffee machine. The staff were friendly, attentive and it made our stay so relaxing and memorable. We walked along the beautiful grounds leading to the National Park. The weather was stunning and chose to relax by the pool in the morning as there was no one there! Breakfast was lovely overlooking the stunning Megalong Valley. The boutique/shop in the Resort is a hidden gem - always great fashion, swimming costumes, jewellery and gifts. Dinner at the Golf Club was very nice... and the staff and Chef were so friendly and very welcoming - accommodating to specific dietary requirements. The balcony area at the Club is yet another lovely place to relax and unwind and take in the beautiful golf course vista with a cocktail in hand (some of the outdoor furniture does need an upgrade). Overall we loved every minute. I feel that the Fairmont Resort is a place you'll want to return for years and years, with children, with adults, just like I have. Special mention to Rory and Filomena - outstanding ambassadors for the hotel. I'll be back again soon... also because my kids keep begging to return! And because the Blue Mountains is my happy place - one of the most beautiful places in the world.
