We arrived on good friday which was bedlem however the staff were efficient and friendly despite being run off their feet. The rooms we booked were clean although needing a little update. I dont rate the shower at all as the pressure was somewhat non existing.. We loved that fact that we didn't haveto leave the resort for meals but lots of variety of eateries in Luera and Katoomba..Great for families with small children as there is a lot to entertain them we had a 3 month old with which we will bring back when he is older..A little dissspointed that I paid the same for both rooms but one was so much bigger..

No Longer an Up-Market Hotel

Whoever made the decision to place a permanent 50m garish, neon-coloured children's slide right in the foreground of one of the best views in the Blue Mountains, should consider getting out of the hospitality business. The ruined view from two of the main dining areas (and many of the rooms) of this hotel only reinforces the idea that you have entered a theme park, not a relaxing hotel in natural surroundings. The Fairmont has been a regular, short-stay retreat for us, for many years. In recent times, we've seen the resort gradually add more features to appeal to children and families. All of these (such as the pony stables, the maze, the sports courts, the playrooms, the ice-rink, etc) have all been sympathetically added or enlarged to blend with the beautiful natural surroundings. But that muti-coloured slide has gone too far! But our biggest disappointment, on this visit, was the total absence of a quality dining experience. Of the claimed "five stunning dining options", for dinner during our stay, the only option available was the Sublime Cafe, which offers quite a restricted pub bistro-like menu (Deep-fried sharing plates, burgers, etc). The other main dinner option, "Embers", was closed for three nights, for reasons unexplained. We took our evening dining business elsewhere. It seems incomprehensible that a 'resort' of the size and reputation of the Fairmont could only offer us a burger or a lame salad for dinner, possibly seated at a table in a corridor that connects the reception area to half of the hotel's rooms. On the plus side, our room was generous in size, clean, quiet and very comfortable. The staff tried hard and were friendly and service-orientated. And you certainly can't beat the stunning mountain and valley views from the hotel, and the proximity to other great scenery, walks, and Blue Mountains attractions.

Truly ruined our 25year wedding anniversary

We were gifted a one stay from our daughters for our 25 year anniversary and we enjoyed our stay somewhat, to be disappointed by a charge of $300 fine for accusations that we smoked in our room, after checkout. I Spoke to Jocelyn and she was so rude and kept accusing us of smoking in the room, with an attitude that didn’t display a customer focus at all. we asked for evidence and were sent a photo taken of a cup with 2 cigarettes in it that was apparently in our courtyard. Firstly that is not sufficient proof as that could have been anywhere on the grounds and secondly the brand of cigarettes in the picture is not the brand we smoke. I think they need firmer evidence before accusing people of an Act, that we clearly did not commit. We complied with all the hotel policies and only had a cigarette at the front of the hotel where the smoking area was located. The phone mannerisms left a lot to be desired for a hotel that prides itself on high standards.

We can't say enough good things about Rachel! She completely transformed our wedding reception with her stunning simple arrangements and decorations to such a romantic place. She was so attentive to my vision and really captured the romantic vibe I was going for. Her communication throughout the planning process was excellent, and she went above and beyond to ensure everything looked perfect on the day. There was "No can't do“ with her everything was possible. Highly recommend her to any couple looking for exceptional service and eye for detail! Thank you Rachel

Great location but poor hotel

A shame that a fantastic location for what could be a great hotel is spoilt by the staff and the rules of the hotel. Checking in is a nightmare and I went to 4 different areas just to book a table for dinner with them asking for details I had already given to reception!! But worst of all is that this hotel shuts at 9pm. No bar and staff come round half way through dinner to ask you if you're having pudding and what would you want to order.
