I came here for a conference with a lot of colleagues and stayed for a few days. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the shower was good (two key requirements), the staff were polite and efficient, and as I was on the 22nd floor I had a great view to the north. Sadly, however, there were other aspects that weren’t so great, including a sewage smell that was strong when I turned up but got progressively better over the few days that I stayed, the decor in the room that was a bit grey, the fact that the lift broke (did I mention I was on the 22nd floor), and the general location near the Montparnasse train station (I accept this is hardwired into the hotel, but it wasn’t my choice). Ultimately, it was fine for a work trip, but I would have felt a bit cheated if I was here for a romantic trip to Paris…

We had a fantastic 5 nights stay with our 2 kids at Pullman Montparnasse. We arrived around noon and our room wasn’t ready yet so we had to wait a bit. We were offered drinks and snacks while waiting for check-in, and we were upgraded to a two-bed interconnecting family room on the 20th floor with great views of Paris. We absolutely loved our room. The rooms were of great sizes and sparkly clean with sustainable bath amenities. However, there was no bathtub which was disappointing for a family room. There was also no iron in the room, but we requested for one and it was provided promptly. The service was consistently great at all levels, and the staff went the extra mile to make our stay wonderful (eg. anticipating our needs and always chatting/playing with our kids). The hotel seemed busy during our stay but we didn’t feel this at all. Breakfast buffet had a huge selection of food except they didn’t provide French toast and avocado which was a bit weird. And they always ran of pancakes! Cons: Our stay was prepaid but our card was debited for no reason on our last day (in addition to the €550 holding fee that was taken on our first day). Staff explained that this was a mistake and will be sorted out same day. However, it took several emails and nearly two weeks later for our money to be refunded and we weren’t pleased at all. Overall, we loved our stay and would return when next we’re in Paris.

What was once a great hotel is now one to avoid at any cost.

I used to stay at this hotel in the past, prior to the long renovation work, that they started a couple of years ago, and that they only recently finished. I always had good experiences in the past, so I decided to go back, for the first time since they reopened, to see how it looked like now. When I arrived I went upstairs, as this is where you check in now. After queuing for 10 minutes, I reach the reception desk, the receptionist, instead of checking me in, tells me to go to the Diamond check-in, as if queing a second time was the privilege they were offering me as an All Diamond member. It was not a good start. When I get into the room, I notice the TV is stuck loading the system menu, I restart it many time same problem. I give up. At 22h30, we decide to order food. I try to use the tablet, it is not intuitive, and I am an IT and technology guy, so I know what I am talking about, it takes too much time to load the pages, and you lose your order basket in the middle of the ordering process. I give up as well, I order by phone. One hour later, at 23h30, our food hasn’t arrived yet. I cannot reach the room service, instead I have a receptionist playing the intermediary between me and the room service. The later, obviously doesn’t help the communication, nor does it help locating my order. The receptionist tells me he is calling me back in a few minutes, he never called back. 23h45, I call back, asking the same question, where is our food? Same answer, he is calling us back. He never calls back. Midnight, wearing my bathrobe and sleepers, I go downstairs to the recption to complain, I tell them that, as a Diamond member, I was expecting a better service than waiting 1h30 minutes for my food order, the lady at the reception totally ignores me and instead, move away, and goes to take care of another guest. Finally someone, takes care of my complaint, and call the room service, they tell him that my order is just arriving now at my room. I go back up to my room, the food is there, however, it is only one part of what we have ordered, they forgot the fruit salad. But this is not yet the worse, my friend taste the chocoloate mousse and she goes immediately to the barhroom to throw up, they have put vinegar in the chocolate mousse! She asks me to taste it, I just smell it, it stinks vinegar, I cannot even touch it. They will finally not charge us for the food, but this didn’t help much, the experience was bad from A to Z, they are cleary totally disorganized since reopening, their IT is not working, the service is very poor. It was the first time I went there after their renovation, and it will be the last.
