The resort is lovely if what you are looking for is a more laid back retreat. I visited during the lantern festival so all accommodations in town were full. I found the location too secluded and inconvenient for my liking. I also got sick from a dinner meal at the resort during my stay.

Veranda High Resort is a truly beautiful hotel located just outside Chiang Mai, yet still very easy to reach thanks to the free scheduled shuttle service to and from the city. The resort itself is wonderfully designed, peaceful, and surrounded by lush greenery. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food throughout the resort is excellent. We stayed in the Plunge Pool Pavilion, and having our own private pool turned out to be an absolute delight. From our terrace we had gorgeous views over the resort’s rice fields and several pagodas in the distance—a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. We also visited the resort’s spa and had a fantastic experience. We enjoyed a duo treatment: I extended my facial from 60 to 90 minutes, and my husband had a 90-minute Balinese massage. From the welcome with cold lemongrass tea to the foot-washing ceremony with warm ginger tea, everything was thoughtful and relaxing. The therapists were skilled, gentle, and professional, leaving us both completely refreshed and zen. The spa is definitely a must-do during your stay. Overall, Veranda High Resort is a wonderful choice for anyone visiting the Chiang Mai region—relaxing, beautifully designed, and full of warm hospitality. We highly recommend it!

Excellent stay

The hotel is overall excellent. But Ms. Por at the SPA is exceptional. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here every time I visit Chiang Mai.

Tranquillity in the rainforest

Our stay at Veranda High Resort was utterly tranquil and lovely. Stay here only if you accept travelling a distance into Chiang Mai. A Grab car will cost anout 260-300 baht one way, or you can get a red taxi for cheaper (and a more authentic experience!). There is a free shuttle, but it only goes infrequently and can sometimes be fully booked. The surrounds of the resort are lush rainforests, and there's a beautiful view of the Buddhist temple. The restaurant was okay, about what you expect for a resort restaurant in South East Asia where prices are higher and likely not as flavoursome as the meals you get from street vendors. Breakfast and lunch were nice. However, I do think the hospitality from the serving staff could better - just a simple greeting and "how are you today" goes a long way. In a 5 star resort, it's what you'd also expect. Another improvement would be pool side service, at the very least a QR code to have food and drink brought down directly. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Verdanda villa with pool which was beautiful. Our only complaint is that the bedroom upstairs next to the master bedroom is lacking compared to the other two rooms- no where to put our luggage, no bedside lamps, no hooks for towels, air con partially broken and no space in the bathroom for toiletries. The view was also pretty yucky as shown in the photos. I'm not sure if all the luxury pool villas are like this, but number 997 was. We all had to hang our bathers and towels on the stairs to dry. The wonderful resort managers gave me and my partner a deluxe scenery villa instead which we were very happy with. If you have all adults staying in the luxury pool villa please keep in mind that the extra bedroom is nowhere near as luxurious as the other two and you may be disappointed. Overall, we are very happy with our stay at Veranda High Resort.

We visited mainly to use a few remaining Accor Plus suite-night upgrades, and it turned out to be my favorite stay despite the property’s age. The rooms are clean, spacious, and wonderfully scenic, though a renovation would make it even better. The food is tasty, but breakfast is limited and fairly ordinary. The only drawback was the abundance of black, fluffy caterpillars throughout the grounds, which left me a bit uneasy.
