ibis De Haan 3 gwiazdki

I stay at Accor hotels often, as I am a Gold Level member. Ibis never disappoints me, however this time it did. The location is great. However, the miss behind the reception (with the glasses) wasn’t able to smile at all or be kind in any way. She even used the informal version of “you” in Dutch, which is not very common in Belgium when interacting with clients (or anyone). The blonde miss in the same shift only had her interest in three boys that were hanging in the bar the entire evening. The restaurant is okay. However, the pasta taste like it was made the a couple of hours earlier. The pizza was okay. The room was very hot and the air cooler made a lot of weird noises. Although that is uncomfortable, the service (or lack of) is the most unsatisfying part.

Comfortable bedroom, sufficient place for a couple, everything was clean. The staff was very friendly. The prices are reasonable. The swimming pool was clean and water temperature was great. We could sunbath in the garden.

The hotel has good facilities for the star rating with a pool on site, playing fields and plenty of outdoor space if you want to relax. Rooms are spacious and have fridge and coffee machines. Good bar and restaurant. Plenty of parking though the only negative would be the charge which seems a bit disingenuous given there is no where else near to park and it has plenty of room. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely stay here again it’s a good base to explore the coastal towns via the tram. We stayed two nights so chose not to have housekeeping do the room but did get refills for the machine at reception.

We returned again after the COVID break . The hotel hadn’t changed much and we enjoyed our stay . The room was good .Very clean and comfortable . Staff are friendly and very helpful . I do these days get the impression that Accor hotels are understaffed especially at breakfast time . The breakfast in all our recent stays has been ok but to us they seem tired and in need of a revamp .Other than that great .

This Ibis hotel is a bit more expensive, but worth it. The rooms are bigger than average in an Ibis hotel. It has a swimming pool, a nice terras to relax on and even a pool table en football table you can use. It is in a perfect location if you enjoy nature. You can walk to the beach through a nature reserve. The town is a pleasant 25 minutes walk away. Belgium beach towns have a reputation for over development and high-rise buildings, but de Haan is an exception to the rule. Very nice indeed. The only downsides are that the parking fee was a bit expensive and the restaurant only served ready made/ microwave meals. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return.
