Convenient Location and Friendly Service (Room Could Use a Refresh)

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Leiden for Leiden Independence Day (October 3rd), and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The location is incredibly convenient—just a three-minute walk from the train station. The staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous, always ready to assist with a smile. One of the highlights was the remote work setup. I was able to comfortably set up my laptop on the built-in window ledge. The room included a kettle with tea and instant coffee (though no fridge). That said, the property does show its age. The pillows, towels, and sheets felt worn and could use an update to improve comfort and freshness. The bathroom also had some rust in the toilet, which unfortunately caused a bit of an odor. Still, for a short two-night stay, the hotel served its purpose well—its prime location and warm, welcoming staff. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Leiden, a city rich in history, lined with charming canals, and full of vibrant culture. It’s a wonderful destination for anyone looking to experience authentic Dutch heritage.

Surprisingly Good

We ended up with a surprise extended visit to Holland due to flight cancellations at Schipol Airport. Leiden is only 15 minutes by train from the airport so we decided to stay here for two days. We were a little wary of the “Ibis” brand as we have not had good experiences in the past. However, we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel which is just across the road from the train station. The hotel was clean. The room was a reasonable size and the staff were all very helpful and efficient. The hotel is an only a short walk to the town centre. Strangely, we would stay here again.

A fun view watching trains and commuters

This IBIS met expectations. I requested and was given a room with a view of the train station to watch the trains and the commuters. The view was a very lively show of frequent trains coming and going, and the room was quiet – noise was not a problem. There were enough electrical outlets to charge two iPhones at night and the WiFi was fine. Breakfast was satisfactory. The water is fine for drinking or filling your water bottle. The rooms are large (for an IBIS) and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The bed covering was a heavy comforter, without a top sheet, which is is very common now. A top sheet on the bed would be nice, because sometimes the comforter gets too hot at night. I like the IBIS brand very much.

After a journey which involved 6 trains, I was so glad to find this hotel across the road from the train station! The following morning the bus to the famous Keukenhof Gardens was just across the road also! So, great location for what myself and a friend were there to visit. The room was small but thoughtfully designed - bed was comfy and shower was great. Especially grateful for delicious warm GF rolls for a plentiful and delicious breakfast. The staff, without exception, were friendly and very helpful, thank you!

Good points - the location is very convenient for the train & bus stations, rooms are clean as is the reception area, right next door to two supermarkets, comfy bed. Bad points - the room looked a bit 'tired' and in need of painting, strange sulphur smell coming up from the shower drain, shower temperature didn't stay the same and the volume on the very small TV would randomly go up itself to full blast.
