Awful dirty nasty place

Was really looking forward to this hotel. Website shows fabulous rooms, boutique hotel, 4 bars one called the lost caves 26 ft below ground. Wonderful daughter will love this for her birthday treat from mum. We arrived at reception my daughters face lit up loved the decor, I said “tell my daughter please about your 4 bars” “ o we only have that one pointing to the tavern just off reception” what no cave bar no drum and basement No they shut ages ago she said. But they are still advertised on your web. The staff member then said o are they ? I booked in February to come here and that was the reason the style the bars We told the staff if I don’t like the room , we won’t stay as it’s NOT as advertised. Well the room , filthy , hairs in the bath , actually bathroom so small had to squeeze round the door to try and use the loo. Net curtains filthy , floor carpet so threadbare, it was awful. And room overall was tiny. And to top it all off the door opened and another guest walked in by using his card !!! We were all shocked as both his cards opened our door !!!! That was it NOT staying here. Disgraceful to say the least. Didn’t even stay to do full hotel inspector style look around, what we saw was enough Sorry Mecure hotel Nottingham city centre you are falsely advertising on the web page. Overall we stayed what 20 mins , asked for a refund and all reception lady could say was o sorry. Even when I said about the man’s room card working on our room. Really sorry she said. Well one ruined birthday treat and lots of tears.

May I firstly take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent experience and to also offer my sincere apologise for the disappointment caused to both you and your daughter. I can see your experience fell far short of our usual very best. Indeed, the bars you mention are no longer present as neighboring businesses to the hotel. None of these are / were owned or operated by ourselves. However, as a neighboring business we did as a gesture of good neighbourly will have their bars placed upon our website to help promote them for them. I do apologise that since them recently closing these bars have not been removed from our own website. For this I do apologise and also for the disappointment this caused. I have shared this feedback with the necessary people to have this removed asap. I further apologise for the issues you mention with the room. I will certainly share the feedback about the 2 hairs found within the bath with our housekeeping team. I will further ensure any retraining and support is given to the individual who serviced this room to bring their standards back to where they should be. The net curtain has recently been laundered but a small mark does remain. We are in the process of having this net replaced. Naturally one needed to remain in place until the replacement came. I apologise for this added disappointment along with the condition of the carpet. We are very soon to be having a multi-million pound refurbishment take place. Something we are very very excited about and all feedback you have provided will be kept in mind while we plan for this. I am also very sorry to hear of another guest walking into your room. We take the security of our guests very seriously and are investigating to see how this could have happened. We thank you for bringing this to our attention. Well located friendly hotel

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the George Hotel. My room was very spacious with good facilities. It was also very quiet. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good with a helpful friendly man running it. The hotel is well located and there are lots of restaurants nearby.

This hotel is disgusting. My double room had peeling paint everywhere, dirty carpet, very dirty bathroom. Walls are paper thin, you can hear everything next door. Couldn’t wait to leave . I chose it for the location, very central but just means more noise from the street

I am sincerely very sorry for the pidgeon mess which was upon the exterior of the bathroom window. I will look to see whether we need to increase the amount of times we have our windows cleaned. I will also have our maintenance team look at the walls within the room you resided to have the issue you mentioned fixed immediately. I apologise for you having had to experience this. Sapphire wedding anniversary despair

Definitely different definately old location definitely central BUT we were apparently upgraded to room 301 directly opposite the squeaky lift, to a Disabled room ! Well if this was an upgrade I hate to think what the down graded room was like. Very jaded furniture carpet needs replacing as big worn patches . Sofa dirty marks on? Disabled chair in wet room No back god help anyone who was disabled but the best of all was the floor in the room which was so uneven you felt like you were on rolling ship deck . On plus side bed was comfortable and I’t did have air con which was needed as SoSo Hot 🥵 Only real noise was from guests waiting for lift and not bothering about other residents. Breakfast choice good. Although central location do not think warrants such high price tariff for the quality .

Looking for a hotel for 25+ people is challenging but Chris and his team made it very easy and accessible to do so. We couldn’t have had a better stay, such a good location and every staff member we spoke to was so helpful. We couldn’t recommend the hotel and staff more and will definitely be returning next year.
