Nightmare at Novotel

We paid for a double bed in an exec room and got two single beds pushed together, which does not make for a good night’s sleep for a couple, especially with a bizarre random clicking noise every few mins from the aircon! No soap provided for the shower, broken lifts, and there’s a great swimming pool - except we can’t use it on the sunny day due to ‘renovations’! it’s summer next week, why not renovate in winter? Get your act together, Novotel - clearly very poor managers here!

Don’t stay here if expecting to use the pool open “year round”. Closed for renovation website neglecting to mention. Not given option to cancel reservation on arrival without paying. Told it was Accor that runs the website so out of hotel’s control blah blah blah blah

Fantastic location and great room. It was very easy to reach from the train station, and all the main attractions were easily walkable within 10/15 minutes of the hotel. The views out the window of the city walls were brilliant! The room was clean and well laid out, and included some teas, coffees and shampoo, shower gel etc. When booking, we had the choice of a room with a shower or a bath which was nice, and the in-room fridge was very useful for storing food to take out for lunches. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of French and European favourites. They also had alternative milks which was cool to see. We used the restaurant a fair bit and they were generally very good, aside from one slightly cold piece of meat. They also were able to take allergies into consideration, which was greatly appreciated, aside from some issues with residue left on plates etc. at breakfast. Lovely and friendly staff who were very helpful. Overall, would recommend for anyone visiting Avignon as a really nice and well situated place to stay.

Thoroughly disappointing hotel. Do not waste your money. We booked a suite and a classic room. When booking we were told the rooms (one of which was for our daughters) would be on the same floor. Upon check in we discovered one room was floor four and the other was on floor two. Staff told us there was judging they could do. The suite still had dirty cleaning cloths in the bathroom and hair on the floor of the toilet. Not pleasant. If you offer a free mini bar to certain rooms at least stock it. We had one can of Diet Coke and a cereal bar. Far from adequate. Staff were far from helpful. Despite agreeing to a late check out our key cards were disabled. With only two lifts for the entire hotel be prepared to wait a while. The astroturf on the terrace smelt unpleasant. Save your money and book elsewhere

A well appointed Novotel on the edge of the city, within comfortable walking distance of the centre of town which is served by an array of bars and restaurants. The room was modern, clean and comfortable albeit without a nice view. There was ample underground parking and the bar staff were friendly and efficient - we didn’t use the restaurant but it looked good!
