Mercure Cairns 4,5 Sterne

What a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern and the beds are comfortable. Walking distance to town and the esplanade. Great value for money and we will definitely stay again when we are next in Cairns!

I personally would not stay here again for the following reasons: * When arriving into the "Superior Room" we did not have a balcony however we had requested a balcony * The coffee pods in our room had been used by I am assuming previous people staying in the room * The mini fridge was not on when we arrived and our milk was off from the Cairns heat * The staff were friendly however the setup was very unorganised and small things like the bar, dinner and welcome letter were not the greatest setup * The breakfast was not the greatest buffet breakfast I have had * We had requested a taxi pick up service on the day we were leaving to meet our flight however after waiting 10 minutes after the organised pick up time, we had to organise the taxi ourselves and just made it to boarding our flight in time * Barely any convenient parking for guests staying with a vehicle Things I did like: * Conveniently located to the Esplanade and Cairns Aquarium * Updated rooms and foyer area

What a lovely experience we had 22 & 23 Feb 23. We arrived in the afternoon after a long list of flights and had to quickly check in and go to work. What a beautiful oasis to return to. Yes Mercure Cairns in under renovations. Yes there are tradesmen getting about transforming her. However you can already see the stylist hotel she is becoming. I suffer claustrophobia and this did not bother staff, as they accommodated me without even a blink and made me feel welcome and nurtured. We had the most fabulous evening meal at The Stanley by the pool. I had wild Barramundi and my colleague had Pork Belly. Divine meal and we did not leave a scrap on our plates. Service was impeccable. Mercure Cairns offer coffee machines in each room and waiting area in the reception area. To my delight as a reader they also offer a range of beautiful books. Although my room boasted a massive wide screen tv, I retired in luxury with three books I borrowed from the reception area. Because Dinner was so fabulous, we had breaky again at The Stanley. Once again overlooking the beautiful pool. It was raining while we were there, however the rain only added to the ambience and serenity The Stanley can offer. A huge thank you to the Mercure Cairns and The Stanley staff for your excellent hospitality and kindness from Deb and Paul. We would love to visit you again soon.

Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Cairns. Had a fantastic stay, hard to beat central location, clean , bright, modern rooms. Customer Service was excellent, better than I have had in 5 star hotels. Very professional, friendly staff in reception, housekeeping and in the restaurant. Great buffet breakfast, topped up regularly and cooked well. Great coffee too, thanks Sarah for looking after us so well. Will definitely be back.

I have stayed here previously when it was an ibis. I was looking forward to staying now that it’s been upgraded to a Mecure. I understand a lot has happened with both accommodation and restaurants since covid. This was bad on so many levels. I was told there was onsite parking. The three parking spots were reserved. I was forced to park on the street. Drove around the block several times- every day. When I finally found a spot I didn’t dare move until I was heading out to work the next day. Travelling alone and female,I was limited to restaurants within walking distance. The restaurant was closed at the hotel was closed Monday night. I dined at the very expensive and bad Chinese restaurant adjacent to the hotel on the first night. Dined at the oasis opposite the hotel on the next two nights and that’s a story in itself. Never going back!! I would recommend to anyone flying in , looking for cheap accommodation and are happy to settle for minimum comfort. I don’t know how Accor can say it has been upgraded to Mecure.
