Staying the 15th Arrondissement? This hotel is perfect for the budget-conscious traveller!

We did a last minute trip to Paris at the end of May. The city was full with tourists and fans for the Champions League Final and the French Open, so finding decent accommodation at the right price proved to be a challenge. We found a good deal on the Ibis website for the Ibis 15, which included breakfast, so this hotel worked out well for what we needed. This small hotel is located in the 15th Arrondissement, which is south of the city (if you think of Paris as a clock, this would be between 6-7). In terms of tourist areas, it's closest to the Eiffel Tower and Champs de Mar. This walkable neighbourhood is more on the residential side, but is full of boutiques, cafés, bakeries, and restaurants. We preferred this as it was a bit quieter, and safer than some other areas. There are two Metro stations within walking distance (Boucicat and Convention), but you can also get the bus, Ubers, taxis, and scooters nearby. TIPS: *Check the Ibis website directly for good deals. *Get familiar with the Metro. You can get a day pass for the whole system, including buses and trains, for €7, which is a great value. The metro can get you to all of the tourist stops and destinations quickly. The staff in the stations are very helpful, so be sure to ask if you need help. P.S. Be mindful of your valuables - there are a lot of pickpockets working the transit systems. *Have a look around this neighbourhood. We found all of the amenities and services we needed for our trip, including grocery stores, banks, a laundry, local boulangeries/cafés, etc. within walking distance. You'll find a variety of cuisines in the area, including the local restaurant on the corner that makes the the yummiest Vietnamese spring rolls, or the charming and hip Italian restaurant a couple of blocks away, where the staff are friendly and the food and drinks are delicious. The hotel is older, but it's looks to have been recently renovated. The lobby is small and there is only one small elevator, which will fit (maybe) two adults and two carry on suitcases. If you're not in a rush (we weren't), it's totally fine, but this may be important for travellers who need assistance. We found the staff to be very polite and helpful. Check-in was a bit slow as there was only one person at the front desk, but be patient and they will help. We had a double room, which was on the smaller side (hey, it's Europe!), but it was clean and functional and worked for what we needed. We were travelling light, so we could comfortably store our luggage, but if you need more room, ask for the biggest room you can get. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were a bit flat, so ask the front desk if you can have extra. The bathroom was a good size and very clean, but the shower in our room was a tiny box. If you are bendy and flexible, have fun manoeuvring in there! Larger people, this one isn't for you! The water pressure from the shower head is very good, and the hot water is plenty, but beware of the hot side of the tap - the metal gets HOT and will burn you if you get too close. The hotel provides you with a small and small-med sized towel, so if you stay here, bring your own. We had a basic continental breakfast included in our room rate, which was convenient. The bread and pastries were fresh, the coffee was good, and there are the usual yogurts, cereals, and fresh fruits and juices. TIPS: *Ask for a bigger room with a bigger bathroom. The compromise is that it will take you longer to get up the elevator (see note above), but you will avoid the shower box of torture. If you end up with the box shower, be mindful of the hot water side of the tap, and stretch before you enter. *Bring your own towel or request extras. *Request an extra pillow or use your travel pillow. *There is air conditioning in the room and the windows open onto a small Juliette-style balcony. It can get a little noisy during the day, which is not too bad, but I'd keep the windows closed at night. *There isn't a fridge in the room, so pick up bottles of water, drinks, or snacks from the grocery stores around the corner. *If you opt for the continental breakfast, be sure to go to the breakfast room early. They tend to run out of the good stuff quickly. Also, try the fresh orange juice machine. It's fun to use and the juice was delicious. This was a decent hotel and one I'd consider staying at again (minus the tiny shower box - lol). Have fun in Paris!

I stayed at this hotel with a group of friends to attend an event at the Porte de Versailles expo centre. It is perfectly located for events held there. The hotel is modern, comfortable and clean with a very good breakfast for the price. The staff at the hotel could not be more friendly or helpful. They even stored a bulky object for me, keeping it safe until I could arrange shipping. A really good experience and an excellent value hotel. I would stay here again.
Dear John, Thank you for letting us store the bulky object, it was surely a lot of fun to have a guest like you and your colleagues with us. The whole team had a very nice time hosting for you and we sincerely hope you visit us anytime soon again. Even though we are a small hotel with a small team, we try to give our very best everyday. My worst trip of the year is always Paris, fortunately the Exhibition at the Paris Expo Porte De Versailles is bi-annual. There is nothing I like about Paris, dirty, smelly, place in my opinion and everything is small and expensive. So this year instead of trying a random Hotel, I went for the tried and trusted Ibis brand that was as close to the Expo as possible. Generally speaking, you know what you are getting when you book this Brand but this was my first stay in the 'Styles' arm of Ibis, probably my last. Don't get me wrong, the Hotel is average in every department, it claims to be nothing else but I expected a little more for my over £800 for 5 nights. Issues Firstly, the lift - fits 1 person at a time, just ridiculous. My room on the 7th floor was old and dated, quiet dark, worn carpet areas and in general looked in need of paint refresh. No fridge, this was not good. No balcony, but there was a french door type window which was ok. WiFi - no problem, although did drop out every now and then but reconnected without issue. Breakfast - very limited, never looked appetising, perhaps I just was unlucky with my timing. Staff - No problem here, all the staff I dealt with where good and friendly. Summary The search for a decent hotel in Paris continues - but at least I have another two years to find one !
Dear guest, Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us at the Ibis Styles Paris XV Lecourbe. In our Ibis Styles we usually count with very good client feedback regarding the hotel's quality and rarely have complaints on that matter. We recognize that this branch of the Ibis family is very particular, having it's aspect based on a story telling and a more liberal way of presentation. We understand that the prices in our city can reach very high numbers and raise every visitor's expectations. In order to balance the quality for price ratio we try to preserve our products the best we can and strive to be as professional and helpful as possible with all our customers. Regarding: Our rooms: We are constantly trying to correct and improve our utilities in the hotel's rooms - we will note the one's you've mentioned and replace what needs to be replaced. Our breakfast: I'm proud to announce that since the 19th November we completed our breakfast project to bring a completely new visual and dynamic into our morning service - a new buffet with much more choice and a reviewed decoration will help us match your expectations better. I thank you for your kind review about our team, all positive mentions on our staff are always brought to them and immediatly convert into motivation for all of us. Thank you one more time for your time and visit. Please don't hesitate in writing us directly if you wish to stay with us again, we will certainly try to find the best conditions to welcome you. Best regards from the whole team,

Attended a Conference at the Exhibition Center which was a nice, 15 minute walk. The rooms are small, but clean and well maintained. The air conditioner worked well and the bed was standard, but I slept exceptionally well every night. The breakfast is okay with basic cereals, juice, yogurts, pastry and coffees. The elevator is extremely small but efficient. The hotel was comfortable with easy access to the conference center and Metro. The best part of the stay was the staff. They took such good care of me and my co-workers/boss while we were there. They made the stay wonderful. Thank You! Nothing fancy, but highly recommend.
