Mixed Experience, but an Unbeatable View

We stayed at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, and the location is undeniably the star of this hotel. Being steps from the Eiffel Tower is a surreal experience and something truly unique to this property. It’s also conveniently walkable to several public transit options, making it easy to explore the city. The reception area consistently had long lines, no matter the time of day, which made even simple questions feel like a chore. The actual check in interaction was fine and not very memorable. The lobby has an interesting mix of business hotel energy with attempts at modern flair for tourists. It’s not a space designed for lingering, and the constant view of the reception line doesn’t help the ambiance. We had some issues with our first room which got handled, albeit with a few hiccups along the way. Once we finally settled into our new room, we could really take in the view. We ended up on a low floor with a balcony facing the Eiffel Tower and sitting outside watching it sparkle at night was unforgettable. The room itself was perfectly adequate, but the balcony view was the real highlight.

Deposit mishandling and misleading “refund” documentation

I am extremely disappointed with how Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel handled my damage deposit. The hotel required a €300 damage deposit (approximately ZAR 5,655), clearly stating that it would be fully refunded within 7 days of check-out if no damage was found. No damage occurred. Instead of refunding the correct amount, the hotel later sent me a “reversal receipt” claiming the deposit had been released, but the amount reflected on this document is ZAR 9771,95, which is nowhere near the original deposit paid. The figures do not match, and the full deposit was never returned. Sending a receipt that suggests a refund was processed, when the refunded amount does not correspond to the actual deposit taken, is misleading and unacceptable. This creates the false impression that the matter has been resolved, while the guest is still out of pocket. For a hotel operating under an international brand, this level of financial mismanagement and lack of transparency is shocking. Guests should carefully check their bank statements and not rely on emailed “receipts” alone. I would strongly caution future guests before trusting this hotel with deposits or any post-stay financial transactions.
