Excellent location a block away from the cathedral, close to the city center and a short walk across the river to scenic neighborhoods. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel restaurant was much better than expected. Atmosphere and food was one of the best.

Ideal if you wish to visit the Cathedral, arguably the finest in France, if not the World. It is about a 3 minute walk. Modern, some rooms overlooking the Cathedral, very friendly service, good food, and secure parking nearby.

Bright Fresh Hotel Near Cathedral

Nice bright, fresh, clean hotel. Our room had a glimpse of the cathedral. Only a short walk to cathedral, centre of the city and restaurants along the canal. We had a good-sized room, clean and in good condition.

Great hotel, with amazing location. Very nice clean rooms and good breakfasts. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for one VERY rude girl running the bar on the evening of 30th September and 1st October. She clearly didn’t want to serve anyone, and wanted to go home even though the bar was still meant to be open. She eventually served us but was so abrupt and unhappy about it and made it very clear! My wife asked if she had peppermint tea, which they had but she wasn’t prepared to heat any water for her so told her to go up to her room and use the kettle in there and bring it back down!!!! After paying nearly £1000 for our stay think her service skills need addressing. We later sat and waited for my wife to return with her tea, and was told by the group next to me that they were treated in exactly the same way. The guy on reception could see what was happening and was trying to passify guests but she was having none of it and so he made the drinks himself. This could have been an off day for her but she was exactly the same the night before. Think a public facing job may not be for her, as I know her attitude upset a number of guests that night. Such a shame as this left a bad feeling on our last night, after everyone else had been so lovely. We return to Amiens every year but might look around for a different option next time.

Several years have elapsed (and Covid) since our last visit to the Mercure Cathéderale hotel in Amiens. Apart from being a fantastic hotel in an equally fantastic location, our prime reasons for returning were a) the excellent crêperies, b) the Hortillonnages waterways and c) the Macarons d’Amiens (Jean Trogneux). Being centrally located, one of the very useful features was the proximity of the underground car park in rue des Huchers. We paid €29 for a 7-day ticket which was exceptional value. Reception staff (Célestine, Olga & Adam) were very friendly and helpful on arrival as well as during our four-day stay. The hotel reservation was made directly on the Accor web site (membership benefits) and breakfast was included in the price. Breakfast was a delight - literally was everything you could wish for, and more. Amiens is a beautiful city with lots of “must-see” attractions – we had previously been to the Maison de Jules Verne (excellent) as well as the Hortillonnages, but always good for a return visit. This time we did some prior research regarding the local Amétis bus service and routes with the intention of visiting the tomb of Jules Verne in the Cimetière de la Madeleine as well as the Zoo d'Amiens. Armed with the timetables for each route we traversed the city with ease. Each day we spent just over £5 on bus fares (two persons and two journeys). Both venues were equally impressive. Returning to my own car on departure one has to be aware of the rather strange priorities in town/city centres, such that cars travelling on what would appear to be a side-road have priority over those on the main road (priorité à droite). The image I attached shows the Audi car leaving the underground car park and having priority over the traffic on the main road (rue Flatters). Bit bizarre, but worth being aware of. If you are thinking of visiting Amiens in the Autumn be aware of the impressive son-et-lumière display at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame which is usually around Sept-Nov time. An evening well worth spending in the centre of Amiens.
