The Disappearing Name Tag: Daniel at Reception

Disappointed with Reception and Extra Charges I booked Ibis Budget Lugano through Booking.com for £109, which clearly included £10 city tax and VAT. However, when I arrived, the receptionist (with the name tag “Daniel”) insisted I had to pay the city tax again, saying it was a “mistake on Booking.com.” I showed him my confirmation several times, but he refused to respect the booking price. After consulting someone I believe was the manager, he returned without his name tag – as if removing it would make the problem disappear. When I mentioned that I would contact Booking.com and leave a review, they went silent and offered no explanation. Overall, the situation felt unprofessional and disappointing. Guests should be aware that the hotel may not honor the advertised price.

The facility meets the standard expectations for an Ibis Budget and is situated in a great location, a short distance from a bus stop and within walking distance to the lake. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by a sour smell in two out of the three rooms we had. We won’t risk staying here again.

Excellent budget hotel.

This is an excellent choice of budget hotel. The rooms are very samll but perferctly clean and functional. The location is also very good, about a 5 minute walk from the lake and promenade and not so far from the town centre - easy walking distance. If you are on a budget then this is the pace to stay in Lugarno and very good value by Swiss standards.

would like to inform you that I was subjected to a disrespectful attitude by the receptionist, which is completely unacceptable and disrespectful, and contains unacceptable racism. On Friday night 1 September at 23:35, I went to buy a bottle of water and they are people in reception. I asked them for permission to pass before them, so they smiled at me welcoming, but the receptionist refused to pass me and asked me in an unkind way to wait . There was another woman waiting, and after the customer finished his check in, the woman looked at me and allowed me to pass before her because it was only a bottle of water, but the receptionist shouted at me and refused to pass my order with bad way!!! . I left the water and he insisted that I wait even though the woman repeated her words and told him that she allowed me to pass because it was a bottle of water... I strongly object to this inappropriate attitude of your employee..

Fine visit however one issue address below...

Upon arrival we asked to store our backpacks and we were rejected do to “covid restrictions”. We had to backtrack to the train station, pay to store the bags, and then get started on our day about an hour behind schedule. This was at first annoying and a bit ridiculous since covid transfer by luggage seems unlikely at best. However what really bothered us was that on the morning of our departure we watched several early arrivers drop their bags for storage before their check in was available. Perhaps we interacted with a misinformed staff member, perhaps the restrictions changed in a matter of two days (I doubt it). But this left a sour taste in our mouth upon departure.

We are really sorry about the misunderstanding, since COVID-19 we had to change and adapt multiple times.
