The Ibis Kingsgate has delivered a wonderful guest experience at a hard to beat rate in a great spot in Melbourne!!! It’s hard to know where to begin but as a heavily seasoned traveller across all levels of hotels I sincerely can say this Ibis punches above its weight. Housed in a beautiful early 20th century building with loads of character I urge every guest to stop and really appreciate your surroundings. The solid beautifully carved stair cases, stain glassed windows, the all so friendly staff, and you have to experience one of the two cooked options for breakfast cooked to order yum yum yum. Rooms a little tight but more than comfortable and the staff at all levels eager to welcome and assist with all requests. Most of the negative reviews are rubbish. If your a light sleeper just request a quieter room simple. The whole hotel including reception, Dining, hallways and rooms were absolutely spotless. The hotel offers two lifts from reception, gym and the all important guest Laundry. Southern cross station, crown casino, aquarium and the tram all very close by. The tram will take you for free right into the heart of the cbd. Parking offsite but very close by and very reasonably priced. I actually really really was surprised how much I loved my few day stay and being almost privileged to be able to stay in such a charismatic and historical building more akin to an bnb then an Ibis. So well done shout out to Ravi, Kadek, Larry, Wendy, EL, and allll the rest of the team 100% you will have to put up with me again soon!

A good budget hotel!

I stayed at this hotel in a single room for a conference. It was definitely a budget option, but this was exactly what I needed! For a budget room it actually felt reasonably spacious. I had space to get out a full ironing board and iron my clothes, and walk around still. It had a fridge and kettle, so I was even able to prepare basic food for myself and save some money. Bed was quite comfortable, and the hotel was quiet and clean. It was in a great location, right near the train station and very close to tram stops. This made my life very easy for this conference, and meant that I could get plenty of rest! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even lent me a bowl and some cutlery so I could have weet-bix in my room for breakfast.

Have stayed here for 2-4 nights twice recently. Great location close to Southern Cross Station and trams, perfect if going to theatre or sports or exploring the CBD. Really clean, comfortable and cosy. Amazing staff, all perfect.

Had booked a five night stay, ended up leaving after a night as the traffic was so loud outside, and combined with the sound of construction, made sleeping impossible. The room was small, dated, and the bed uncomfortable. Far better hotels in the area to stay at for a similar price.
