Great Christmas Experience

Just returned from the three night Christmas package. This is our third year spending Christmas at the Wessex. As always, it is great value for money, the food is excellent and plentiful and the staff are very friendly and obliging. We had a very comfortable twin room with views of the Cathedral and had everything we needed plus a complementary bottle of wine and huge box of chocolates. We hope to return for Christmas 2025.,

Booked a one night stay for myself & partner for his birthday, First time staying this hotel, I booked a superior room with cathedral view & it was a lovely room, great view of cathedral & Christmas market. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there as so many nice bars & restaurants in Winchester. The bed was super comfy, nice little extras in the superior room, fridge, robes & slippers & a coffee machine. No complaints about breakfast it was very busy but there was plenty of food & it was constantly replenished. Staff were all very helpful we were advising checking in that there was a Christmas party that evening & the music would go on until midnight that didn’t bother us but it was nice to be warned. Only issue with this hotel I would say is the parking, hotel car park is tiny & was full when we arrived, we were very lucky to get a space in the small public car park opposite but this was pure chance. I do think hotel should make it clear that parking can be an issue but all in all happy with our stay & would recommend this hotel.

This is a very old hotel - room was clean enough for a night. Perfect location for the city centre and Xmas Market Breakfast was continental or full and nice enough - We stayed on a Wowcher deal which included a welcome drink and late check out…..

Had a lovely stay with friends, excellent food and breakfast. Rooms very comfortable. Excellent service from Reed throughout our stay . Would certainly stay again. Great location for the Christmas market and shops. Parking now issues and felt very safe x

This hotel has a lovely atmosphere and amazing position in the town, There are lots of pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. We came for the Christmas Market and the atmosphere was wonderful. Our room had a Cathedral View and you could see the lights of the market close by. So easy to get everywhere from here, perfect for tourists to see a piece of Historical England. The Breakfast however, lived up to its reputaion, basically that they run out of important items and take an age to refill them. We were expecting it. This morning they ran out of Eggs and a small queue of people formed, clutching the rest of their breakfasts on their plates waiting for the eggs to turn up, we joined them. And lo, the waitress appeared with 5, barely fried eggs. Faces fell, everyone dutifully took one and then guess what, ....there were no eggs! A tray of perhaps, 20 would have been good!
