Disappointing Experience – Beautiful Property, But Poor Service and In Need of Renovation

I’d like to share a detailed and honest review of our recent stay, covering both what went well and where the experience fell short. 1. Check-In and In-Room Dining Miscommunication: We arrived quite late due to flight delays and lengthy immigration procedures. Check-in was fairly smooth. As Accor Plus members and frequent travellers, we had a few standard questions. We were happy to receive an upgrade, and the front desk associate also informed us that we were eligible for a 50% discount on In-Room Dining (IRD) as part of our membership. Knowing that IRD discounts are generally excluded, we reconfirmed this detail—only to be told again that the discount applied. Naturally, we placed an IRD order after settling in. However, when the bill arrived, there was no discount applied. The service staff clarified that IRD was not included in the Accor Plus benefits. This lack of clarity and internal miscommunication was disappointing. 2. Restaurant Policies & Guest Service Lapses: The next day, we had lunch at the restaurant and were satisfied with the food and beverages. However, the following morning, we went down to the restaurant around 9:30 AM hoping to order à la carte breakfast (at full charge). To our surprise, we were told that only buffet service was available and that à la carte orders or IRD would only be entertained after 10:30 AM. When we explained that we did not want the buffet and were willing to pay for an à la carte meal, we were simply told to go back to our room and place a room service order. This was perplexing and quite frustrating. If our intention was to eat in-room, we would not have made the effort to come down to the restaurant in the first place. The interaction felt dismissive and rigid. We eventually left without eating. We emailed the hotel while heading to a local attraction—it's been more than a month with NO response. That evening, our room was not serviced as we had mistakenly left the DND light on. We requested housekeeping at the front desk at 8:45 PM and went out. Upon returning around 12:15 AM, the room remained untouched. We also included this in the post-stay feedback link, but yet again, no one reached out or acknowledged it. Talk about being a 5star hotel and hospitality. 3. Overall Impression While the property has a beautiful layout and potential, it is clearly in need of renovation—areas appear tired and the overall upkeep does not reflect a premium five-star experience. More concerning, however, is the lack of service coherence and accountability. Refusing à la carte breakfast to paying guests and failing to respond to guest feedback are significant issues. We could easily list the names of staff involved in these lapses, but we’ve chosen not to. What’s most disappointing is the complete absence of any acknowledgement or apology, despite multiple opportunities. This is not the experience one expects from a well-regarded Accor property and we truly hope the management takes serious steps to improve both service standards and infrastructure. The General Manager needs to really up his game on this and drive a culture.

An old property and given its Accor - you've certain expectations. But we were let down by the basic attitude of the team. The property is okay - beach access is easy. But the rooms need some major renovation. The team is too much into themselves. Food is decent and drinks are nice. Giving it 3 stars because of a few people who were kind.
