Really bad service by Hvana

several times. Everything went well: the hotel is super close to Santos Dumont airport and Cinelandia (5-10 min walk) This time the service was deplorable, the receptionist HAVANA doesn't know her job and doesn't speak anything, no foreign language at least she could explain in Brazilian. It's a shame for a 4* hotel and unacceptable.

My partner and I and friends stayed for a 3 night visit. Check in was quick. Valet parking available. 15 min walk to lapa. Area surrounding hotel quite desolate, plenty of homeless but never had any trouble from them when leaving or returning to hotel. Comfy bed, spotless rooms. Good facilities. Great bar and restaurant. Staff friendly on all levels. Security a little bit stern looking. Breakfast was nice. Would recommend.

Nice hotel, convenient to Santos Dumont Airport

Excellent stay at the Novotel RJ Santos Dumont. The hotel staff was great. Very friendly, efficient, and professional. The hotel was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. The fitness center was well-equipped and available 24/7. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, so cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel. As the name implies, the hotel is convenient for Santos Dumont Airport. It is a fairly easy 5 minute walk from the hotel, mainly on a pedestrian bridge above a busy road. It is also about a 10 minute walk from the Rio Metro. The only negative, and not the hotel's fault, is that this part of Rio has a problem with homelessness and is fairly deserted after dark and on weekends. So, it might not be the best area to walk around at night. Again, not the hotel's fault, and it does have good security, but certainly a part of your stay.

Tired hotel

This is a tired looking hotel and not what I would expect of the Novatel group. There was tea and coffee making facilities but only one cup and a paper cup. We only spent one night here so it was just ok. I would not have wanted to spend any longer here

Safe stay in not safe looking neighborhood

We picked this hotel due to its proximity to the airport: 400 m away from the main entrance. During the day hours it is an easy walk, once it gets dark - do not recommend walking. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with our late arrival and restaurant closure. They are also the ones who recommend not to wonder around the block after dark. Inside felt safe and secure… the rooms are outdated (that’s the reason for lower score) but clean and of the same style as Novotel hotels in Europe: very nice consistency.
