I use Ibis hotels a lot all over the world as you always get more than you pay for. The room as usual was very clean and comfortable. Added bonus of a restaurant in the hotel. Conveniently breakfast starts at 4am, perfect for my early flight. The airport departures is just a 10 minute walk away. Very helpful staff, particularly Diego

Amazing staff: knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and always with a smile. Great location close to major transportation, a local airport, and three consulates: Germany, Italy, and France. Clean rooms with a view, a nice table to still be able to work on your laptop, a bench by the phone, nice AC! Oh, and great breakfast!

Hotel is basic and has basically everything you need. Small room with nice beds and a bathroom with a good shower. It was just not super clean, could see quite some dust. Unfortunately you also can't open the windows for some fresh air. The airconditioning works though. Hotel is super close to airport santos dummont, but take a taxi, don't go walking cause the neighbourhood is not that safe, MAINLY at night. Taxi point is in front of the hotel. Over all an ok stay.

The hotel seems a bit tired and at a point where it needs refurbishment. For example, the lifts appear to not be fully working - the doors on one of the lifts did not open on some floors, or only partially opened, and then had to be manually pulled apart. In terms of the area - it is within walking distance of Santos Dumont Airport. It is within walking distance of public transport - the metro and VLT at Cinelandia area 10 minute walk away. It is not the most pleasant area at night, with numerous homeless people loitering - However, in fairness to the hotel, this is not their fault and there is 24 hour security in the hotel. The air conditioning was running in my room on arrival and the curtains had been kept closed to keep the heat out, which is appreciated. Staff at the hotel speak basic English. An issue with the in room safe was resolved through the use of google translate, but even with the language barrier, reception had maintenance in my room in under 10 minutes, which is very good service. There is a good selection for breakfast. There is good, fast wifi. However, it was apparent that my room had been well used and the fridge, for example, would have benefited from a deep clean. The hotel was ok for a short stay, but I would consider other hotels if in Rio de Janeiro again.
