Disgusting continental breakfast

The continental breakfast did not really exist and when we went to get some breakfast, the bread was mouldy, that we didn’t notice until we started eating it and then was sick. The price you pay for the breakfast was disgusting cause considering there was nothing there.🤢

The Ibis Budget Southampton enjoys an unbeatable location, just a 5-minute walk from the central train station. This makes it a practical choice for travelers arriving from across the UK or Gatwick Airport. With the nearby retail park offering plenty of shopping options and Southampton’s main streets only a 10-minute stroll away, the hotel is well-positioned for exploring the city. Cruise passengers will find it particularly handy, as the Horizon Terminal is a short 5-minute walk, while the Ocean Terminal is just a 10-minute drive or a £9 Uber ride away. This hotel provides a no-frills, budget-friendly alternative to its pricier Accor counterparts like the Ibis and Novotel. True to its name, the focus here is on affordability and functionality. The reception area is compact and blends into the breakfast room/ bar/ restaurant, where items for sale appeared reasonably priced. The check-in process was quick and efficient, and the staff provided a warm welcome, setting a positive tone for the stay. The room is exactly as advertised—basic but serviceable. It features a double bed with an overhead bunk, a small desk, and a TV. There’s no air conditioning, but a fan is thoughtfully provided, which is essential for warmer days. The layout is unconventional: the shower and basin are located within the main room, while the toilet is enclosed in a small, private cubicle. While this setup works for solo travelers or couples, it could be awkward for groups or families depending on their level of comfort with shared spaces. If you’re looking for a step above hostel accommodations but aren’t concerned with aesthetics, ambiance, or premium comforts, the Ibis Budget delivers exactly what it promises. It’s a practical option for a short stay or a budget-conscious choice for cruise passengers needing a stopover. In our case, we booked it as a day room to relax after disembarking a cruise and before an evening flight. It turned out to be a cost-effective alternative to bag storage in Southampton, offering a private space to rest and refresh at an unbeatable price. Overall, while it’s not luxurious, the Ibis Budget Southampton serves its purpose well for those prioritizing convenience and affordability over style and comfort.

rooms look better in pictures. in person, they look and feel like prison cells. the breakfast selection is terrible. there’s no variety and barely any food. drinks were rubbish - orange and apple- tasted so bad. i absolutely hated this stay. card didn’t work properly too, got locked out of my room

Pre cruise night

Very good cheap option for pre cruise stay, of course, if you need only the place to sleep. The room was small, without special space for luggage, in room shower and sink, but clean and practical equipped. The walk from National express coach station was around 8 minutes, the Uber to the City cruise terminal was 4 GBP. 15 minutes walk for a dinner in a old part of the town. Breakfast - nothing to write about - but good for a price.

We booked this hotel as a short breaks package with Paultons Park/ Peppa Pig World. I am posting this to try to prevent other families having their break ruined by staying at this awful place. I would not call it a hotel. If you are booked to stay here with children; I would cancel and book to stay elsewhere. The hotel is being used to house people who misuse drugs and alcohol, who are sex workers and who are incredibly verbally aggressive and threatening. I was sworn and shouted at by one of these people when I politely said that the noise was disturbing my young child. I was told by the person at reception who referred to herself as a manager that I couldn’t speak to the general manager until Monday and my only option was to move rooms but this was very late at night with a young child and it’s not just the one floor that there are problems. People who are not saying at the hotel are hanging around in the reception area drinking in extreme excess and the place was cluttered with alcohol bottles and people screaming at each other. The booking was for two adults and a four year old yet the bunk bed clearly says no under 6’s. We were provided with a travel cot as the only alternative for a four year old. The rooms were very basic. The car parking which is not advertised on the booking is £10. The staff were scruffy wearing stained clothes, missing teeth and were trying to be friends with the guests above. There was absolutely no level of customer service for the kind of people you would hope they would want to stay at a ‘hotel’. This is a very bad example of a hostel. A very overpriced one with no security. The only good thing about this hotel is that it’s near the shops and restaurants. Please do not ruin your trip and stay here. The bad reviews are very accurate. We had a great time at Peppa world but would not book with them again for a short break as this booking through their website is absolutely shocking.
