We are quite astounded at the unfounded criticism expressed by some on here. We stayed here for 5 nights last week and had a wonderful experience. From the warm welcome by all staff and their efforts to understand my awful French to their wonderful English, nothing was too much trouble, they were a delight. The foyer and breakfast rooms are spacious with a bar included. There is an ample terrace with a fabulous pool which we used daily. Everything flows and is open plan. They decorated it all for Halloween which was appreciated and fun. There is an interactive Photo machine by the lifts where you can take a free souvenir. Breakfast was scrummy, a mix of hot and continental, you can even fry your own eggs at a station, plentiful and very high quality. There are meal options in the foyer for you to take to your room to reheat, a bit pricey but handy as there is no restaurant for lunch or evening options. Our room was huge, L-shaped, great big comfy bed, and lots of windows to open with a view of the pool. Small kitchen area with treats that are replenished daily, The fridge is really cold with bottled water supplied. Table and chairs and lounge chairs also. A safe and plenty of hangers and storage. The bathroom is large, with a wet room set up which was perfect for us. all toiletries are supplied and very tastefully decorated in a minimalist style. One fly in the ointment is the lack of air conditioning, it has it but it wasn't working and the room was warm, however, we were supplied with a fan. They need to look at this seriously. The suites are in the more modern area of the city with great tram transport very close by. 5 minutes away there is a very pleasing strolling area with a river, restaurants and fabulous modern architecture, lots of places to sit. This was our first visit to Montpellier, it will not be our last. It has everything sprinkled with Frenchenss of course with a scattering of Spanishness thrown in. 20 minutes to the coast, it is differently quaint with a vibrant beach life, we even swam in the ocean in October. Loved our trip and these suites, take the negative comments with a pinch of salt, this is a gem..

We checked in online yet took ages to checkin at the front desk. No idea why. Our room was on 2nd floor almost at the end of the left arc facing the pool. Room is large, bedroom good size, seperate room with washbasin to another room with the toilet and bath/overhead shower. Aircon blew hot air but at least we could open the windows and noise from the street wasn’t too bad. Wardrobe is next to front door in the lounge/dining/kitchen, not the bedroom so our suitcases etc were in the lounge. The bathroom. So you need a science degree to work the shower, it’s very slippery too. The light switch for the toilet/ bath also is for the wash basin ie both rooms. It’s a problem bcoz there are saloon doors between the bedroom and the washbasin room so in the middle of the night if you want to use the toilet - through the saloon swing doors waking everyone up, turn on the light and continue to keep people up then shut the pocket door- more noise. Just plain bad. The kitchen has a sink, microwave, coffee/tea pod machine (short a pod), bar fridge and kettle. No utensils at all. Went to reception to ask. Was provided 2 wine glasses and from a bar, self help paper plates and biodegradable knife/fork. Seriously? So we microwaved our dinner but had no way of cleaning up. The building is tired and worn. Both level 0 and 2 hand sanitizer at lift was empty through our stay showing little care. Car park underneath is large and spaces are bigger than usual for a change. The location is about a 5 minute walk to trams, and about 20 to old town. Large shopping mall not far, and close to the river also. They also debited my credit card with a deposit without telling me whereas the two other Accor places we used in the last week didn’t. Inconsistently from Accor group.

Customer satisfaction is our priority, but apparently we weren't entirely successful this time around. We have renovated part of the establishment into suites and superior rooms. We will resume work at the end of October to do the other rooms, suites and the outbuildings. However, here are some details: The apartments are equipped with kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, hotplates, Nespresso machine, microwave, kettle and welcome tray as well as Rituals products in the bathroom. The superior Suite is a 35 m2 suite with bathroom with walk-in shower, kitchenette with microwave, kettle, welcome tray and Rituals products in the bathroom (as mentioned in the description). The classic Suite is a 35 m2 suite with bathroom with bath, kitchenette with microwave, kettle and welcome tray as well as Rituals products in the bathroom (as mentioned in the description) . For the payment, you have reserved a promotional rate which is subject to conditions, as indicated it is debited at the time of your reservation is neither cancellable, not refundable and cannot be modified. You then registered at the online check-in to facilitate your departure by blocking a deposit which will be used to pay for any extras so the difference is released automatically on your departure. Not great. The hotel is very old and outdated and sad-feeling. My room smelled faintly of mold, and the A/C didn't work at all - it was hot and stuffy in the room, and opening the window brought in substantial noise from the busy road nearby. The salle de fitness had broken equipment (why leave a rowing machine there with no actual rowing handles at all? Odd.). That said, the employees are nice, breakfast plentiful, and this might be an okay budget hotel for a family looking for a pool at a good price.

Hotel, room, pool area and location are all fine and I recommend the hotel itself. However the staff behind front desk were really unhelpful and a couple were just unpleasant. I'm a platinum card holder and that hard earned status meant nothing to them and the benefits of that status disregarded. On last day at checkout charged for someone else's purchases. Clearly an error but when I asked for an apology suddenly could not speak English and started serving other customers. Hotel is fine and I extended stay from 7 to 11 nights but front desk staff worst I've come across at an Accor hotel.

Good value, proper suites, bad housekeeping

We stayed for 4 nights and it was best value hotel during our trip to South France. Also Novotel Suites was not just the name - most expensive option - superior suite on 4th floor really does offer living room with kitchenette and pull out sofa as well as separate en suite bedroom. Sleep quality was not great - hotel is by the busy road. Alternatively you can have rooms overlooking pool with kids screaming all the time. We were working for 2 days and wifi was good for video conferencing. There was also enough room for me and my husband to space out and not hear each other. Aircon was working. Welcome drink was in tiny wine glass and was only for named member. When we bought additional 2 glasses of wine - they were 9 Euros each - really expensive for Montpellier - you can have nicer white wine in the city centre for 4 Euros. Housekeeping was stingy. They constantly failed to leave us 3 towels for number of people staying, did not refill Rituals soap (at the end we bought our own soap bar) and conditioner container was left empty too. They ignored empty tissue box. The supervisor came with new bottles but still left soap one not refilled. Battery in second Tv was flat in remote control, coffee machine was not working. Normally they change sheets after 3 nights in 4 star hotels but not here either. Overall room maintenance leaves much to be desired. Location was some 15 min brisk walk to the Comedie. Montpellier is a beautiful city, well worth visiting for grand architectural gems as well as maze of old town charming streets. By the checkout nobody asked us how our checkout was. It does feel very much like a tourist category. There is plenty of choice in Montpellier so I will check out other options next time. Main attractions is price and space which creates better value. If you are prepared to put up with what i have described it is ok choice.
