It’s a 30 min walk from the train station to Hotel Mercure. Nadia gave us a great room 312 w a terrace. Woo! Breakfast is great!!!! Tons of healthy or other choices. Busy hotel(in a good way). Beds good. Bathroom good. Could have had more amenities in the room. WiFi works great. Quiet. Had a very good Campari Spritz in the bar - €12 expensive but perfect. Grazie.

The room was in very poor condition, the toilet was not working properly, the shower was clogged and dirty, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the toilet, and there was no way to reduce the temperature.

We are genuinely sorry to hear that the condition of your room fell so far below the standard we aim to provide. The issues you describe — a malfunctioning toilet, clogged and dirty shower, persistent unpleasant odour from the bathroom, and the inability to adjust the room temperature — are completely unacceptable in any guest room, let alone in a 4-star property. Our housekeeping and maintenance teams carry out daily inspections and deep cleans between stays, and technical problems (such as plumbing blockages or air-conditioning issues) are addressed immediately upon report. Regrettably, it appears these problems were either not identified during room preparation or not resolved quickly enough after your arrival. We take full responsibility for this lapse and have forwarded your detailed comments directly to our housekeeping, maintenance, and engineering departments for urgent review. To prevent similar situations in the future, we are reinforcing our pre-arrival room-check procedures, increasing the frequency of bathroom maintenance checks (especially drains and ventilation), and ensuring that any reported technical faults receive same-hour attention whenever possible. Your experience is far from the norm, and we deeply regret that it overshadowed what should have been a comfortable stay in the heart of Palermo.
