Do not make a reservation directly with Mecure Hotel

Do not phone Mecure Hotel directly to make a reservation. I phoned them on 21st March to make a reservation for 3 nights over the Easter holiday. I was given a quote for a deluxe double room including breakfast. I accepted the quote and was told that the reservation was confirmed and she would email me the confirmation. Great I thought as we have friends visiting from NZ for a 60th birthday and due to Easter being a peak time, the hotel they were all staying (12 of them) were fully booked. After I had put the phone down to the female receptionist I realised I hadn’t asked her name, which I usually do. Last Thursday (2 weeks after making the booking) I realised I hadn’t received the email confirmation, so I phoned them and this time Rosie told me that her reservation system was slow and she would call me back. Four hours later after no call back Rosie tells me that my reservation is not in their system and they are fully booked. I then proceeded to tell her how angry and disappointed I am and how difficult it is going to be for me to get a reservation elsewhere. Rosie then tells me that if I can wait until next Sunday she will sort something out as there will most probably be a cancellation and she will call me on Sunday. Of course today I have not received a call from her, so at 4 pm I called Rosie only to be told that “yes she remembers me and sorry there has not been any cancellation “. I have not stayed at Mecure for many years and if this is the service just to make a reservation then I probably won’t be staying or attempting to stay there again . On a positive, I’m just so glad that I called them and didn’t just take the receptionists word for it that my booking was confirmed and turn up there in two weeks at Easter to find no record of my reservation.

A comfortable hotel close to all amenities (supermarket, doctor, chemist, movie theatre, currency exchange and restaurants). The staff are friendly, check-in seamless and the rooms clean and modern. The head chef, Phil, is well trained and his staff efficient. There is a taxi stand on-site and a regular public bus stop out front. The is a convenience shop (expensive) and an ATM on site as well. The photos on the web site are accurate and reflect the character of the hotel.

Practical place to explore Nadi

I stayed at the Mercure in Nadi for a few days while on holiday. At the time of booking it was a very reasonable price compared to other chain hotels. Yes, it is further away from the beaches and coastline but all major tour companies in the area pick up from the hotel. The room was clean but quite bare compared to some other hotels in Fiji. Good for a few nights stay but not much longer.

Handy location to the airport.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Mercure for 2 nights. Upon arrival We found the check in staff friendly and they were very apologetic as the computers were down due to a power outage so they were unable to check us in. This is understandable due to the climatic conditions so we decided to have a drink 🍸 in the bar. The bar staff were friendly and we had a meal as well which was very nice at an affordable price. We finally check into our room with a nice view overlooking the pool area from our balcony. Over all we had no problems. There are a few negative reviews on this site from previous stays by other people. But at the end of the day you pay for what you get. I mean if you are after top quality rooms and amenities then by all means stay at the Sofitel or the Hilton in Denarau, but expect to pay a lot more for this. We found it fitted our needs for a couple of nights, close to the airport at a reasonable price.

Very old hotel. All facilities look very dated. The rooms smell of damp. The lock on system of the room door was loose, didn't look very secure. The Breakfast buffet was just basic. Good for just one night stay as it is located in the main town near Airport.
