A few minor issues, but in all an enjoyable stay in a very nice Sofitel.

The hotel location is great. It’s right next to a stop for the free bus to/from the airport and a short stroll into town. The welcome was friendly but not informative - eg no orientation on hotel and facilities and little in terms of Accor Gold recognition. That said, on enquiring I had kindly been upgraded from a Classic to a Superior room. The rooms are lovely - modern and spacious layout and maintained to a high level of cleanliness. The usual Balmain Sofitel toiletries. The rain shower was excellent and the complementary soft drinks in the mini bar were a nice touch. I found the wifi unreliable (drop outs) so just opted for my mobile data. Sleep quality was good however the bed was a little creeky. Sound proofing was inadequate (they need slow closing hinges on the doors as banging doors shook the room). No turndown service on the second night. The bar is located on the top floor. During the day it no doubt will have a lovely view, however lighting choices prevent you enjoying it in the evening (too bright causing reflections on the glass). Service was inattentive even though it was quiet. A request for a late check out resulted in a 1hour extension as they “were fully booked”. A check on their availability clearly showed multiple rooms of my category available. I also received a telephone call at the original check out time, the person oblivious to the previous discussion. In all, an enjoyable stay and I would recommend the hotel. Hopefully management can take on board the minor feedback.

The breakfast is excellent, especially when you manage to get a seat at the window! The restaurant is nice and the bar definitely worth a visit. Great location. Would stay again and can definitely recommend for both business as well as leisure.

We loved our stay at the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal during a long weekend in September. The staff was attentive and went out of their way to accommodate us. The beds were comfortable and spacious, offering a beautiful view. I had a memorable birthday celebration, even though British Airways cancelled our flight, which resulted in us staying an extra night. The reception team was very helpful and accommodating to our requests. The entire staff delivered excellent service, and the hotel has a great location with a panoramic view from the bar and restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast, which offered a variety of selections and a wonderful buffet with fresh food. The dinner at the MU restaurant on September 13 was spot on as well. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my family when they visit Luxembourg.

This was probably the best Sofitel experience in Europe for me. It was more warm feel to the personnel and a bit more down-to-earth, while still maintaining the "poshiness" expected from a Sofitel. At least I appreciated this balance very much. Good breakfast, albeit a bit stressed personnel (especially on the Saturday). Dinner was excellent and staff friendly and knowledgeable! Their bar had fantastic view and personnel was pleasant! Was upgraded because of my Status and received a tasty gift and greeting from the staff. Room was really good, sizeable and the bed was really comfortable. So really appreciated the acknowledgement. Distance from the city was a little bit, but it was a beautiful walk across the bridge getting to the "Old Luxembourg". And transport in Luxembourg is free inside the country, so you could also jump on the buses. Overall I would love to go back in the future.

Just spent 2 nights here while visiting Luxembourg City. Overall experience was good and I’ll break out Pro’s and Con’s. Pro’s Great location, excellent beds, pillows, linens and very generous room size. Really liked our room. Some staff were truly engaged and seeking to help. One of the concierge staff went above and beyond helping to decide what sites we should visit. Con’s Most staff were pleasant but zero welcome entering or exiting the property. Upon checkout, didn’t ask how was your stay, where are you heading next? Could not have cared less. To many staff looked away when you make eye contact and say hello. Fitness center is dated and what I’d describe as pathetic. Woke up to hammering and what I believe was drilling on our 2nd day. Luckily we were up early. No English speaking news stations. I know I’m in Europe, but was told satellite has been out for a while and no remedy in sight. Overall decor and condition of the property is well past its prime.
