The hotel is opposite the old Roman city port and that is a nice surrounding. The room was pretty large and well maintained. It is just a 100 meters and you are in the centre of the city. This means restaurants etcetera are in a walkable distance.

we were very happy with our stay in trier. The staff were pleasant and helpful,the room was clean quiet the bed comfortable the view of the porta Nigra fantastic and having tea making facilities and unexpected bonus.It would certainly make me look favourably at stay at a Mercure hotel Despite being on a main road the room was quite as we were well set back from the road

Nice hotel - a little dated in places although bedrooms seemed to have been updated. We had a view of car park but those at front of hotel would have a great view of Roman Porta Nigra. Nice big rooms. Good cleaning. Good breakfast ( our was included in price but not sure I would have paid €22 per person if it had not been). Centrally located. Good parking (payable).

We stayed for just one night back to southern Germany from Amsterdam. The hotel's primary advantage is undoubtedly its location—right next to the Porta Nigra and the downtown pedestrian area. Our check-in experience was somewhat slow. We booked two rooms, but one of the keys was invalid, requiring us to return to the front desk for replacements. Additionally, bed sheets were missing, and we had to wait over 30 minutes for them to be delivered. While the hotel is clean and well-maintained, it requires renovation; the lift, rooms, and other facilities are showing their age. The rooms do not have a fridge and are spacious enough to accommodate four people, though the hotel policy limits occupancy to three. Despite this, the rooms were quiet and offered plenty of space. Parking was convenient, with paid hotel parking available. As a perk of our Accor Gold status, we also received welcome drinks (beer or wine). In summary, this hotel offers a great location, spacious and clean accommodations, and reasonable pricing. However, some updates to the facilities would enhance the overall experience.

The main advantages are the location, being a five minute walk from the main rail station and very large rooms. I imagine that the hotel was very glamourous some years ago, but it is now an ageing hotel with some charms. The rooms do not have a fridge - the space is now sealed sghut, and the safe wasn’t operative. The bed is an issue - there are two old single beds pushed together and there are separate bed covers for each, which are not nice for a couple. The room has a lot to offer with a lounge and two comfortable chairs, in an era when rooms are tiny and have no chairs or amenities. Ideally, the hotel needs upgrading and renovating but the cost is reasonable and it does offer good value. The staff were friendly and I liked this hotel more than the more modern, boxy hotels we stayed at in several other cities on this trip.
