Clean and comfortable hotel with friendly service. Just a note for future guests: the hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the train station. In summer the walk is fine, but in winter—especially if it’s raining—it’s not ideal. I ended up taking Uber, which cost between €7 and €16 per ride. Breakfast was very good, and the pizza and beer in the evening were also a nice option. I really appreciated the kindness of both the receptionist and the manager. My only disappointment, and the reason I’m not giving 5 stars, is that I had booked 5 nights but stayed only 3, and no refund was available. However, the manager was kind enough to offer me breakfast, which I truly appreciated. Overall, a pleasant stay.

A very pleasant and comfortable stay with helpful staff. A special mention to Mobina. She was very professional and friendly. She helped every night to order our takeaway meals as we struggled to translate the German menus. She ordered our food and made phone calls for us whenever we needed. She is a great asset to the hotel staff. Will be back next year

Clean budget hotel near the Cologne Messe convention center

This is an efficient, new, clean budget-priced hotel near the Cologne Messe convention center. Rooms are small but new and well maintained, in room goodies are minimal (no coffee maker), as you'd expect at this price point. The staff were very nice and helpful, and there are benefits if you join the free Accor Hotels frequent travelers group when you check in at the front desk. The hotel breakfast is basic for a German hotel (logical at this price) but much nicer than at comparable American hotels. Safety issue: The bathrooms were pre-manufactured and then installed when the hotel was build, so you have to go up a step when you enter and step down about 4 inches when you leave the bathroom. Local trams link the area to the main areas of Cologne and the front desk folks will hep you find the right local train to use. If you don't want to figure out the trams, it's a 30-45 minute walk from here to the Cologne Cathedral (the DOM), the main train station (hauptbahnhof) and the busy nightlife there. It's 45-60 minutes to the nearby row of restaurants, cafes and bars along the Rhine. If your trip does not involve a convention at the Messe, the only pull to stay here is the low price, clean facility and nice people, since it's a trek to the areas most people prioritize on their visits.

Your typical 3 star business hotel ideally located for access to Köln Messe and easy access to city center via public transport. Room was clean and staff friendly. The bar is enough for a quick drink and light meal if you don’t want to go to the city, which would be a shame! Only small comments is that there was no safe in the room and no electric sockets near the bed to charge the phone.

Really an “experience” to visit ibis Cologne Messe. I am using Accor for over 10 years all over the World but I can’t remember of such a bad hotel. Been here before … always been bad but this time it is simply to much for me. As a platinum member I would expect someone to have a room waiting - not in this hotel. Welcome drink? No one bothered to issue the voucher … had to ask. Seems all my nice Accor membership benefits are not working here. Maybe I am to demanding. The rooms it’s self are old but let’s say the standard is OK. Not perfectly clean… but seen worst. Expecting water in the room? Forget it! You can buy one at the lobby however don’t forget your wallet with you - have to pay, no chance to put it on the room without pre-authorization. Unfortunately most of the time only one person at the lobby so it will take an hour to do. Breakfast next morning … oh don’t forget to be there 1h before or you will not find anything to eat… seriously one of the worst breakfast… I think some ibis budget have a better one. Jesus!; Add food when It is finished ! Second day was a bit better, but be sure that 1min after 10:00 they will remove everything and even lock the coffee machine :) if you were lucky you got the coffee before from one of the two working machines. Leaving the room for the entire day … hoping someone will clean it? Take the garbage, replace the towel ? Nah…. Cleaning is every second day (COVID? nah?)… sorry - do it yourself. Kindly asked at the reception to bring a new towel since I left them on the floor hopping for replacement plus to put some soap in the dispenser … since it wasn’t there from the first moment ...result of my request?;for the towel I had to go down again after 3h and get it my self. Soap …. Maybe next time. On the second day I came back at 16:00… by that time still no one bothered to clean the room. After asking AGAINaround 18 while I left for 1h someone exchanged the towels and put the soap. Wow ! Great; would be even better if they would take the garbage from a full bin in the room. Bed linen folded? Forget it…Now I save the best for the end; once you manage to buy the water and get it to the room you will find out there is no glass. Not even a plastic one in the bathroom. So I went back to the bar and kindly asked for the glass. The answer from a lady was “no” … took me a while to understand what I was told … however I managed to continue the discussion asking why not? …. I was replied “because the guests steal them” :D OK..
