Terrible Stay

Booked two rooms, On arrival 11:30 our rooms unavailable which was not a problem, we went back at 14:40 and told very firmly “you can’t have the rooms until 15:00 as not ready and hotel policy “ wow that’s a first. At 15:00 everyone who had been told started queuing along with new arrivals!! Massive queue. Eventually got our keys, complained and told had upgraded rooms, I would hate to see the ones we booked because this was no upgrade! After an evening out looked for the complementary water, not in show. Opens fridge to find half a pizza from previous person!! Complained next morning said cleaner could enter in 30 mins once we had changed to go out but found them standing at the door wanting to go in, clearly not happy we said wait. So room was sorted but when my wife had shower the shower had been left on maximum rather than the safety setting!! I guess the cleaners really weren’t happy with us!! On a positive location, bar staff, breakfast all great. Reception staff not always customer friendly and certainly don’t like complaints, which is why maybe this is the first hotel not to email me asking for feedback!

The cleanliness of your room and the unexpected contents of the fridge certainly do not reflect our commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards. Your feedback regarding the interaction with our cleaning staff is noted, and we appreciate your understanding in that situation. I already talked to our Housekeeping-manager to discuss the situation with her colleagues. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our location, breakfast, and the bar service. However, I will ensure that your comments regarding our reception staff and overall communication are addressed internally to enhance our guest experience moving forward. I talked to my colleagues from reception and train them again regarding guest-orientation. Also complaints are important to us to improve our standards. Weekend of Christmas Markets

Stayed 2 nights over a weekend to visit the Christmas barkers with friends . This hotel was booked quite last minute so not our first choice. We had booked room only as we prefer to get out and enjoy brunch and dinner in different restaurants within the city. Upon checking in we received a friendly welcome , and was given an upgrade to a business room which was located on the 2nd floor overlooking the central courtyard. The room was clean, bed comfortable (albeit a firm mattress ) air con, tea/coffee, a safe, very small fridge, desk, water bottles, toiletries, freeview tv, free wifi ( logged into Accor account) bathroom was a toilet, a sink, a great shower and a hairdryer. Location was ideal, as walkable to the train station, cathedral, the river and all the Christmas markets. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby and also the shopping with high end street brands. We felt safe and enjoyed the carols and festival feeling surrounding the beautifully decorated markets ! And city ! Definitely recommend visiting! The only negative is probably that the hotel doesn’t have a bar for a night cap but a restaurant on the ground floor alongside reception and small lounge area. And if you are sensitive to noise, the cathedral, as beautiful as it is, has its bells chiming !

Perfect location for Xmas markets

Great hotel in a perfect location for us. Visiting for the amazing Xmas markets and we are a 5 minute walk from 2 of the biggest and best. Also only 5 mins to the main railway station. We paid a little extra for a cathedral view. Room very comfy with coffee machine and kettle available from reception on request. Bathroom has everything needed including handwash, shower gel, shampoo, tissues and other bits. Lacks drawer space, but fine as we are only here for a couple of nights. Free safe and in-room mini fridge too. TV with some uk channels - BBC1 & 2. Free hotel WiFi. Lovely gift shop in atrium selling drinks, snacks and a range of souvenirs. Opens from 7-23h - self service and pay at reception. Reception team friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was good, but probably too expensive for what we actually ate, so would probably give it a miss next time. However, we plan to come to the markets again and would book here without a second thought. Overall great experience and look forward to next visit

When checking in the front desk was very rude and dismissive of me. Then on our second day of stay 2 hotel workers walked straight into our room at 9am, with cause or reason. When calling the front desk to complain,they did not even apologize, they told us to hang the do not disturb sign on the outside of the door, which we had already done the day before and told them that, it was there when the 2 employees walked into our room, they completely dismissed our complaint and said if the the sign is on the door it should be fine. The room needed to be cleaned better, we had a dirty towel and hair in the bed. Would not recommend this hotel.

Very comfy modern hotel by Cologne's cathedral. Every main site in the city is reachable by foot while you enjoy the city life. Conviniently located for a night stroll and to take some great pictured of Cologne's skyfall. Breakfast has a big range of food, that suits all tastes and needs.
