Paid Reservation Resold – Disrespectful Treatment by Hotel Staff

We made and fully paid for a non-editable reservation. Due to private circumstances, we informed the hotel 7 weeks in advance that we would check in on the morning of 30.08.2025 instead of the original arrival date. The hotel confirmed in writing that our room would be held for me until my arrival. However, when we arrived, we larned that the room we had already paid for and was legally entitled to use had been resold to another customer. One of the Front Desk staff openly admitted this and apologized, saying the room would be ready in 20 minutes – despite a clear note in my booking stating I was not a no-show and would check in later. This was a clear case of overbooking and unjust enrichment by the hotel. The only compensation offered was a free breakfast (€17 value) for a situation where the hotel made nearly €280 in double profit. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told none would be available until after my checkout. Later, we requested written confirmation of the incident. Instead of professionalism, we were met by another Front Desk Officer, who displayed highly disrespectful and non-hospitable behavior — talking over us, belittling me and my friends, and refusing to listen. Her attitude left us questioning whether her treatment was influenced by our nationality, age, or appearance, especially after being offered €40 or even a refund “for the one hour we were kept waiting,” which is insulting compared to the actual loss. Our complaints are twofold: 1. A refund for the nights that we aid for but were resold to other customers. 2. A formal complaint about the disrespectful and unprofessional behavior of the hotel staff and the absent hotel management. This experience left us without trust in the hotel’s integrity or customer care. We will be escalating this matter with Accor support and Consumer Rights authorities.

It is very centrally located, and after all not too far away from the beach. Everything was clean, functional. Bed was comfy. Overall, the price / quality ratio is excellent! We used Accor Hotels a lot, gaining Gold card which gives us two each a free welcome drink on arrival in Accor Hotels, However this hotel who gave us only one small bottle of juice between us :(.

Horrified this is part of the Accor collection.

I’m still here. I have sadly booked two nights. The air conditioner barely works and we have laid towels down to cat h the dripping water. This room is indescribably bad. To be fair I’m scared the roof will collapse…. I’ve looked at other hotel options prepared to lose my 600 euros ($1000 aud) but with short notice I can not afford another $1000 plus. Shame on you Accor!! I’m Platinum and so upset that I’m spending $500 a night to stay in a hot, dripping hostel!

As with other reviews, this was a good location near Jean Médicin, the tram and the Nice-Ville train station but my room, particularly the bathroom, was very small and not really worth what I paid. The shower was great though. I suspect the rates are currently inflated due to the Rugby World Cup. The hotel does need updating and a bit of TLC. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nice (pastries, bread, cereals, cheese, hams and scrambled egg, bacon and sausages) and the room where it was served was clean. If you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs as both nights I stayed I could hear the TV playing in another room until quite late. There is a lift although it is quite old-fashioned and small too.

Very poor service, wifi and feels old. Avoid.

This hotel is an embarrassment to the Ibis brand. Some really inexcusable things going on, such as: extremely, almost non-working wifi throughout the hotel and lobby; bad customer service (it doesn't hurt to smile or acknowledge guests as they come in or out the hotel), very poor breakfast with non existent vegan choices other than nut milk. Poor green credentials: towels were consistently changed daily even though they were left --as instructed-- on their hooks to keep using them; aircon was left on after our room was turned over; coffee is served in disposable cups; and every day there is a ridiculous "news service" on colour printed A4 pages with a supposedly curated selection of news in many languages, when in fact it's just a bunch of articles from Associated Press that no one reads --explain how this is a green initiative? On top of that, the hotel is tired: floor boards are swollen near the bathroom, bathroom did not have aircon vent on its own; room was very noisy (poor sound insulation); only 2 sockets which were also far from the bed; and a very uninspiring decor, in desperate need of a proper Ibis makeover. I was recently almost back to back to this one and a similar category Ibis in Madrid, and Madrid did everything right, plus they were much cheaper. More like a hostel than an Ibis hotel.
