Nice hotel close to the center of Rome

The room was a little cozy, nonetheless sufficent for my wife, two kids (2 and 5 years old) and me. The included breakfast was delicious and the staff was gentle and attentive. The district of Trieste is a little outside the city center (approximately 20 minutes to the Colloseo by public transport), but there are metro and bus stations in the close surrounding of the hotel, so the connection to the city center, central station and airports is rather good. Also close to the hotel, supermarkets and shops can be found (however, not that many restaurants). Last but not least, the WIFI is working good. All in all we had a good time and we would definitely stay at Mercure Roma Corso Trieste again.

This hotel caused me and my partner to cancel our entire trip in Italy. NEVER STAY HERE.

At first, we thought we had a great deal and would be staying at a great hotel. The TripAdvisor photos looked great, the place looked clean in the pictures and it looked like it was a great deal. We ended up cancelling our entire trip which was meant to be Rome, Florence and then Milan and booking a next morning ticket home because the room had left me with such a major allergic reaction that I could barely see more than a foot in front of me. On the first night getting into Rome, we just arrived from the airport to try and get in the front for it to just be closed entirely having to figure out that we had to walk down this alleyway road to the bar and check in which honestly we thought was no big deal but we should have realised this was the first red flag. Then we were put on the first floor with a booking that had been in advance to enter the room and be hit instantly with such a strong smell of chemicals and perfume which was clearly trying to cover up the unpleasant smell which it didn't so it created this mix of intense chemicals, perfume and putrid smell. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly and I could barely stay in there without my face starting to have a reaction so my partner seeing this got me out as quickly as possible and we found somewhere to eat and talk. We agreed that we would ask the reception in the morning if we could wash the sheets with a non-bio wash instead I had to see if that helped because before going for dinner we realised one of the perfume smells was coming from the sheets itself. When we got back we tried to enter our room for our key did not work until the 5th try and then we got in. This problem happened over 6 times and we had to go to the front desk half of those times to be let back in the room. I tried having a shower and while using the towel in the bathroom I was hit with another smell of some terribly cheap perfume completely drenching it. Water was coming out from both the bath and shower faucets and the mechanism to switch between the two wouldn't lock. Half an hour later my face swells up to a balloon, my partners booked our flight home and I'm sleeping in a hoodie with the hood up making sure not to put my face on the pillow because it's drenched in even more chemicals. We checked out the next morning first thing even though we were meant to be there for 4 more days and in Italy for another week. The last time I stayed in Rome I stayed in a hotel that was a lot cheaper and their sheets were 1000x better. We lost out on all of our holiday and money and I've never once experienced or left a bad review for a place or left a place the very next day. If you want to pay a large amount for cheap hotel accommodation this is the place.

The products used for cleaning our rooms are subject to strict controls in order to guarantee thorough cleaning without causing damage to the health of our guests, in fact they are also used for people subject to allergies. I am sorry that during the stay you did not inform the staff of all this, who would have arranged to change rooms. the products used to cleanse the face, body and hair are from the Nuxe brand and are also suitable for the most sensitive skin. I hope that in the future if such a situation ever arises, you will contact the property staff. Sincerely

Although renovations took place in the entry hall, the staff made our welcome just fine at the side entry. This modern building has typical room layout with all accommodations. But the fusion style bar / breakfast terras area made the difference. Local cuisine at its best in a relaxed area, inside and outside. Good service of people that want u to have a good time.

At first look, this place was very nice. Our check-in was very smooth and the restaurant in-house was decent. The room was also very clean/spacious and there’s an enjoyable view from the top floor. However, as soon as we had an issue, their true colors seemed to show. We had a room with a hot tub outside and were happy to see that they included instructions in the room for how to work it as we were planning on using it later that night after walking around town. The instructions were pretty easy: 1. Fill the hot tub 5/6 full 2. Press the power button. Easy day, right? Turns out there is no power button. The hot tub turns on automatically when it senses a certain amount of water in the tub. Also, the jets also turn on as soon as they are halfway covered. There is nothing you can do to stop it. This meant that while we were sitting in the hot tub waiting for it to fill up, the partially covered jets spewed water and dirt at our faces. It got our towels, phones, speaker, and the floor all dirty and wet. There was no way to stop it except to let it run its course. Additionally, I think there was a piece missing from the tub because there was no way to turn on the faucet for the tub without creating this fountain that shot half the water outside the tub. It was a miserable end to our exhausting day. The next morning I called and tried to explain the situation to the front desk. The lady who answered came just short of calling me stupid. She wouldn’t let me finish my sentences and simply said “it’s very simple, you just press the power button.” The rudeness continued when i had to basically beg her to send someone up to take a look at how dirty the tub was and the fountain that seemed abnormal. She sent up two people who we weren’t able to communicate with because they only spoke Italian and we only spoke English. They pointed at the “3-step hot tub instructions” in the room and then laughed at us before acting confused when I tried to show them the fountain and the dirt in the tub. After realizing we weren’t getting anywhere I stopped trying to explain. Miserable experience that led to us regretting staying at a place far from the city center and paying more for the room with a hot tub only to not be able to use it and get laughed at for it. The poor service didn’t end there, however. The day we checked out we asked them to hold our luggage for us. They agreed and while they were tagging it I told them that one of the bags were fragile and to please be careful with it. I also asked if we could write “frágile” on the tag. She said there was no need be she’s she would keep it behind the front desk to make sure it didn’t get tossed around the luggage room. When we came back our fragile bag was all in the luggage room with all the other luggage. At least some of their staff seem have serious customer service and organization issues and I can’t imagine why this is considered a 4-star hotel and it’s standards are definitely not in line with the standards of other Mercure hotels we have stayed in. Definitely do not recommend staying here with the poor customer service and the fact that it is so far from the city center.

Pleasant and comfortable stay at a nice 4 star hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Staff was friendly and helpful. Facility was clean and well-maintained. Breakfast had a nice variety. Dinner/lunch selections weren’t so great, however. It’s all Thai Italian fusion that didn’t tasted good at all. And there are no “normal” food options, not even traditional Italian offerings, let alone food that’s friendly to an international clientele. Laundry service is quite expensive. But it’s nice that they have it. Again, overall nice stay, despite the flaws I mentioned.
