Great hotel, awful location

Hotel itself is well maintained and comfortable. The majority of staff are very polite, well mannered and helpful. But I absolutely would not recommend for families or couples. The hotel is situated very close to the airport and train station but I really wouldn’t recommend due to the noise, possibly worse as we were only on the first floor. 2/3 nights were spent awake listening to shouting and screaming until 3am from the street (Rue De Berne) directly outside our window. On our last night we were woke up at 2am to screaming and fighting virtually right outside our window. Men banging cars, screaming at each other, luggage being thrown around etc. As 2 women we didn’t feel completely safe here.

We understand how important a quiet environment is for a restful night, especially when traveling with family. Our hotel does offer quieter rooms on higher floors or facing the courtyard for a more serene experience. Additionally, we provide earplugs and have taken measures such as double-glazed windows to reduce noise intrusion. For future visits, we recommend requesting a room in these quieter areas when making a reservation, and we will do our utmost to accommodate your preferences. Finally, we hope that the central location of our hotel, within walking distance to the train station and close to Geneva's beautiful lake and attractions, provided some convenience to your visit. For families seeking a peaceful atmosphere, a short walk to the right upon exiting the hotel leads to the lakefront, offering a variety of family-friendly activities. Have stayed here a few times on trips to Geneva and it has always been a good experience. Location is convenient for walking to train station and lake with plenty of restaurants nearby. Room and bathroom are a reasonable size. Coffee maker, safe deposit and fridge in room. Good size towels and Rituals toiletries in bathroom. Note there is body lotion but no hair conditioner, which I find a bit random (there is a Body Shop at the train station which sells travel size products if you get stuck). The hairdryer is hidden in one of the drawers next to the desk! Also really appreciate having a proper wardrobe with a door to hang clothes in rather than an open rail. Front desk team are excellent, friendly and helpful. Also a big thank you to the fabulous housekeeping team. I didn't have breakfast but did eat in the hotel restaurant one evening. Very nice ambience and good food (see review for "Novotel Cafe" - although now called GourmetBar Novotel). Room service options seem very limited though. OK gym for a hotel, two treadmills, cross trainer and weights. There is also a spa, although I've never tried it. Also have to really commend the measures the hotel/Novotel chain are taking to reduce their environmental impact e.g. no more single-use plastics. For me a very good experience and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Geneva.

This is always our go to hotel in Geneva. Conveniently located, yet very quiet rooms and great view from the Top Floor. The service was fantastic, special thanks to Adele and Gregory. The hotel seems to invest greatly into sustainability too, which was obviously displayed at their breakfast selection.

Horrible customer service

I really hesitated writing this review because I rarely review anything below three stars but after two horrible Novotel experiences in Switzerland within a period of days I feel people should have a heads up of what to expect. The rooms are basic. There is soap but no conditioner. The location is central. It can be a bit noisy at night from the streets but it wasn’t too disruptive. That’s where the positive ends. The staff are incredibly rude. We arrived a bit before official check in (half hour). They let us drop off the suitcases. The staff didn’t listen to us at all and wouldn’t even look at us as we were speaking to them. We returned well after official check in time and our room was still not ready. We waited over an hour in the lobby. When I went to ask again about our room the staff was insulting and rude to the point I left the front desk in tears. We asked for late check out as compensation. Only we were locked out of our rooms by normal check out so that’s another wait to ask for this to be corrected. Only for the cards still not to work properly. It’s the rudeness of the staff that really gets to me. I’ve traveled a lot and have stayed in rooms that were less and had a much more positive experience. It’s absolutely outrageous that such a massive brand can have such poor customer service. Our experience in Bern was similar and awful. I will be writing that review next. So be warned you may have a convenient location but it will be with horrible service.
