Automatic check in automatically checked us in to a room which hadn’t been cleaned we thought somebody was actually still in there. Not only that but the door didn’t shut behind us, hairs on the bed. Nowhere to store bags till check in, so can not explore in the mean time, nowhere to wait till check in, reception didn’t open till 12 so unable to inform anybody our room wasn’t cleaned just had to wait around. I get ‘budget’ but for the price I’d expect a clean room. Air con randomly came on at odd points through out the night

If you're looking for a clean room with bed, shower and something to eat in the morning, Ibis Budget in Saint Etienne is a perfect solution. Minus: Noises - you can hear your neighbors very well......

Self service hotel on outskirts of St Etienne

The hotel is a 12 Euro taxi fare from the centre, but ideally placed for St Etienne football Club, only 1 km from there and easy to walk The hotel is only manned in a morning for breakfast and then from 16-00 - 18-00, so there is a self checkin machine inside the first set of doors, where you can check in and obtain a code for both the front door and your room, If staying more than one night, you checking for the first night and then see the person in reception the next day and she will check you in and you get a new code for the room No bar in the hotel but a couple of vending machines and a microwave you can use

Clean, cheapish and functional to one nigh stay on long drive through Europe. Free parking and nice receptionist in main Ibis hotel next door - very helpful. Would return if in the area. Not sure on local amenities as we didn't explore area as arrived too late and left very early, but thought I spotted a steak house nearby.

This hotel is in a strange location, seems to be in an industrial zone but surrounded by some quite nice homes. If you are looking for something to do in the evening you won't be doing it here! I found 3 bars within walking distance, but they weren't great. The real gems of staying here are the staff. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I walked through the door. The room could do with a bit of a freshen up but everything was clean and tidy. There is no restaurant here (or even anywhere nearby) but they do have an unusual arrangement with a food truck just outside the carpark. Basically this truck offers a different set meal for guests every evening. I was sceptical of this at first, but because I couldn't be bothered to get back into the car on the first evening, I tried it. And I was glad I did! Main course, dessert and a drink for 10 euro, good value for money and very tasty. I ate here every night. All in all I will stay here again.
