As a Platinum Accor Plus member the welcome and experience at the Sofitel in Manhattan was very lacklustre. Front desk staff look like they are annoyed by arriving guests, no sense of special welcome for loyal members and no suggestion of the room upgrade we would expect. Housekeeping team members are excellent and could teach the rest of the team what it means to build real connections with guests. Breakfast costs are extortionate - and after offering 'free coffee and tea' at the front desk, the restaurant still charged $10 per cup for filter coffee. Very unimpressive.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beds and pillows are comfortable. I will be back.

Poor stay

I stay there all the time but will maybe switch to another hotel. The doorman are useless and never help - they are always on their phones watching videos. The engineer who came to fix my broken TV told me I had to go downstairs to get a new remote instead of bringing one himself. The rooms don’t have bottled water and need a makeover. The staff at the reception are hit and miss - some are good and others are kind of rude.

We stay at Sofitel on W. 44th when we go to NYC for shows. It is easy walking distance to all theatres, to Bryant Park, to MOMA, to Central Park, etc., and many good restaurants. Our room was excellent as always and bathrooms are always particularly nice compared to normal hotel bathrooms. We did get an especially early knock from room service this time, but I took it as a reminder to me to always put out the "do not disturb" sign.
