The long and short of it is that you get what you pay for. The 4/5 stars take into account the fact that the hotel is advertised as a budget location and the price is definitely low compared to anything else in the area. This place is certainly good value for money. The hotel is bare bones, but clean. The air conditioning was great. The location was excellent - short walk to the beach and promenade. There is a tram stop outside the door providing easy access to the old town and the airport. There was no hair dryer or iron in the room, but you can sign these out at reception. The breakfast was adequate by European standards and excellent by North American standards. The day staff was lovely and helpful. The night staff was not. I will leave it at that. Unfortunately, I cannot say I would come back. The mattress was a material that made me sweat all night. I could not sleep. I don't spend much time in my hotel room during vacay. It's primary purpose is for sleeping, so I will opt for something a bit more expensive next time.

Great for a budget hotel

We (family of 3) only stayed 1 night but for a budget hotel we were very happy. The staff upon check in were very helpful. We had a minivan to park and the staff helped us on where to park on the street as it was too big for the car park opposite. We booked the family room so we had a slight bit more space. Definitely book this one for 3 people. Our double bed was comfortable, although the pillows not so great. Very thin. Our son had a single bed. and we also had a spare single sofa bed. Its pitch black with the blinds which was a bonus for those that do not like the light to shine through in the mornings. Space is tight for luggage, which is why opting the family room was a better choice. Room was clean. There are no wardrobes (not that we needed them). Bathroom is clean although the door does knock onto the toilet seat when opened. As we were travelling from Australia we had charge adapters for our iphones. I found these did not work too well when plugged into the travel adapter. Our phones did not charge. I found this across EU. It is best to have an adapter with a direct port for the USB cable. Most hotels have a USB port on the walls but this one did not. Tram stop (Lenval) is right outside and we were only 3-4 stops away from the centre. Definitely the way to go rather than driving in. Check out was easy and again, the staff were very helpful. For a quick stay over in Nice, this is not a bad choice for a hotel.

Very good value for money, very clean hotel

Great location; tram stop is in front of hotel. Very clean, quiet place, not excellent service but quite good. Near the beach. The air conditioning wasn't very efficient but it was cool when you turned it up to full. Breakfast was reasonably priced, not very wide selection but quite good (I wouldn't eat boiled eggs, they looked old and too long boiled). I would definitely stay here again if travelling to Nice. Very good value for money.

clea budget hotel

stayed for 5 nights in august. found room to be very small, but very clean. no wardrobe our cupboards in the room, clothing had to be put on shelves or left in suitcase. no safe and no safe in the hotel to safely store passports/cash/credit cards/ipads etc. no kettle in the room for hot drinks but the was a flask of hot water in reception. no fridge in room. bathroom again very clean but shower on the small side. towels changed every day, beds made and floors swept/cleaned. well priced continental breakfast. all staff we encountered were very helpful and polite. location good and less than a minutes walk from the tram stop. promenade des anglais only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. i would recommend the hotel as long as you are aware of the lack of some facilities. would i stay here again, possibly not as its pain carrying your passports around with you all day.
