Nice hotel in a great location

Very nice hotel in an ideal location on the Promenade with amazing views. Room was very large, clean and well equipped, I made good use of the complimentary mini bar. Breakfast was a bit basic with limited cooked options. Staff very friendly.

The hotels major advantage is the perfect location on the Promenade des Anglais, with the old town and shopping district a few minutes walk away. Our room was spacious but very dull interior. Looks far better on the online listing than in real life. Good bed and very good sound insulation so you hear virtually nothing from the noice outside. Ok bathroom but poor quality thin towels. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Maybe age shows a bit. So all in all a good place to stay, but in this price range one could expect a little more.

So disappointing.

NOT a 4 star hotel. Just go around the corner to Le Meridien, an affiliated hotel to see what a 4 star really is. We stayed at both on this trip. Our Mercure room #214) was a Seafron Privilege Deluxe but it was far from deluxe. Shabby room with the worst bathroom I have ever had at a supposedly 4 star (in over 40 years of travelling). Never staying at a Mercure again.

I understand that perfection is not always attainable, and working in the service industry myself, I appreciate how important it is to meet and exceed guests’ expectations. I also know that sometimes, serving a wide range of clients requires extra patience and care, especially remembering that customers are paying for the services provided. Unfortunately, my recent experience at Hotel Nice Promenade left me with a rather disappointing impression of the service offered. I would like to share some points, not as a complaint, but in the hope that feedback can lead to improvements: I woke up at 6:00 AM for a business trip and needed a simple coffee with milk, but there were no milk sachets available in the room. I also needed an iron to prepare my shirts. I called reception to request these items. The response was very brief and somewhat unaccommodating: I was told I would have to wait until the restaurant opened to get milk myself, and that an iron could only be delivered after 9:00 AM. When I offered to pick up the iron myself, as I needed it before 8:00 AM, I was simply told, "Not possible." The following day, the coffee pods in my room were not replenished, so I was unable to make a morning coffee. Given my previous experience, I chose not to call reception again. Lastly, at check-out, I politely asked if it would be possible to have a one-hour late check-out due to business meetings. Once again, the answer was abrupt and firm: "Not possible." A more empathetic approach, such as offering luggage storage or a temporary room to freshen up, could have made a big difference in my experience. I believe that small gestures and a thoughtful attitude can profoundly change a guest’s experience. While I enjoyed the beauty of Nice itself, I regret that my hotel stay did not reflect the warm hospitality one hopes for when traveling. That being said, I will certainly return to Nice — though, unfortunately, I now know which hotel I would not choose for future visits. Thank you, Nice, for the otherwise wonderful experience. See you soon!

Great location, but....issues

Couldn't beat the location, was great. But... Room was not properly soundproof from outside noise, as described. Could still hear traffic and sirens. FYI...the hotel is around the corner from a police station, so sirens are constant, night and day. While Nice is old city and the place was renovated (some time ago), signs of wear & tear everywhere you looked. There was rendering missing off the walls, the light fitting had fallen out of the ceiling by an inch, resecured with silicon and then partially painted over the silicon and ceiling insulation that was protruding...and you could still wobble the whole thing. Only reason I touched it was because it was hanging lower than the other light and to check how secure it was to make sure it wasn't going to fall on me during the night. Now the carpet...dirty, marks everywhere. First thing I noticed when I arrived was a big furball on the carpet, clearly leftover from cheap vacuum cleaners, so picked up that clump of hair and disposed it. Didn't feel clean walking on the carpet barefoot after that. The internal noise...why does everyone let their door slam shut? Like FFS. You'd be falling asleep and next minute bang! Not to mention the Mecure is nestled within the larger Le Meridien hotel, and they must have wooden floors cuz the noise from sliding furniture and clunking footsteps was annoying. Look...would I stay again? Probably not.
