Our suite had a wonderful view and we found the location very convenient to walk to the town (beware if you don’t like steep hills). However, this is not a 5 star hotel. The breakfast is not great and often there was very little food available as it had run out. The toaster was appalling (at least 10 minutes to toast the bread!). Also it was not explained that coffee, other than from a thermos (really!) was extra. Housekeeping was not adequate, not only in terms of cleanliness (someone else’s mouthwash stain on the outside of the sink for at least 4 days) and lack of cleaning of the room after returning to the room at 5pm and hanging out the “please clean” sign at 8am. Also the bathrobes were awful, very clingy, and no slippers, only socks (apparently to be environmentally friendly but i believe it is a cost cutting exercise). We used the gym which was very “sad”. At this price point I expected much better,

We had booked the St Moritz, for a piece of luxury at the end of a month long holiday in Hawaii and New Zealand. The hotel is lovely and located on a hill overlooking the beautiful lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains. The downside of the hotel being located on a hill is the steep walk up and down to the town, but this didn’t bother us. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are of 5 star quality with all the amenities you would expect. The bed was insanely comfortable and therefore slept really well. The inclusive breakfast was excellent and dining room had great views over the lake. The nightly cost was a little over our usual budget, but it was well worth it. If you choose not to have the room cleaned, you receive a $10 per person credit to use in the restaurant, which we intend to do on our last night. Highly recommended!

5 star hotel...but not 5 star service

The hotel is nicely located close to the lake and close to town. Own parking facility. The hotel is well decorated. Rooms are perfect and at 5 star level. So, basically everything is ready for a 5 star stay. But the service is not 5 star. Rooms were cleaned day 1 at 5 pm and day 2 at 4 pm (after complaining). Breakfast service is slow and not very competent. Coffee takes ages, eggs overcooked. Also strange that when your breakfast is included in your stay, you still have to pay extra for your breakfast coffee. If you are 5 star, and you have 5 star prices, you all so need to provide 5 star services. They are a bit penny wise and pound foolish. We asked them to print 7 pages. They wanted to charge us NZ$ 2,80 for this. Why would you do this in a 5 star hotel? It is not about the money, but the way you set the service. Pity, as the hotel is really nice and the rooms are very good.

Beautiful views from our balcony and the restaurant. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. Great place to stay. Slept like a baby and got to watch the TSS Earnslaw make its voyage across Lake Wakatipu. Super cool. Great Breakfast every morning. Central location to all the fun in Queenstown.

We had a lake view room, very nice. Great location and very friendly helpful staff. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening, can definitely recommend it. Only gave it a 4 because if you use the app to order your milk you'll never get it.
