Fit-for purpose (short overnight stay). Good road access (highway cross nearby), easily accessible. Budget option to (short) region exploration, including town of Porto. Nothing fancy, offering the needed bed-and-shower. Small pool, free parking, plenty of open space.

Wow. Where do I start. Firstly let’s talk about what you are expecting from your stay. For us, it was purely a business trip. We were using this place as somewhere to get our head down as we were going to be out most of the day. Location: the location of this hotel is awful. There is nothing around. The food they were offering on the menu was so little we decided to go out and find a restaurant. That was impossible! We were walking for 45 minutes (with no Road but I will get to that in a minute) only to find a time town with few cafes and pharmacy. No food anywhere. Now, to get to this town was the scariest walk of my life. There are no pavements. We had to walk on busy roads around bends and everytime I heard a car come, I just tensed up, expecting to be knocked over. The Pool: it was green, dirty and very very small. The food: after our 1.5 hour round trek we decided to come back to the hotel to get food, we were starving. We had been travelling all day. I settled for a vegetarian pizza, would have been nice if it was cooked, it was cold in the middle and hot on the edges. Whatever my husband wanted wasn’t available (burger, pie, meat pizza) so he settled for duck rice. Omg this was the most awful thing I’ve ever seen. The rice was microwave packet rice and the duck…. Well, check out my pictures and judge for yourself. The staff: I have to say, the staff were lovely. Friendly and eager to help. Drinks: there were probably, a choice of 4/5 drinks to choose from. Great if you like whiskey or gin. The room: the room was small, basic and mostly clean. Just very dated and very old. Overall: I know this is a 2 start hotel, so my expectations really weren’t very high but I at least expected it to be in a location where we could walk to get a drink / food somewhere.

Don’t be put off by 2 star rating!

This is a gem of a hotel. Room are basic, but extremely clean. There’s a good size television in the room and the bed linen is crisp and white. Staff are very welcoming and it’s an excellent breakfast. It is truly excellent value for money. Well done!

We stayed here for one night before travelling to our holiday destination. The staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, the room was basic but was what we needed for a stopover. The en-suite had a bath and over-bath shower, access into the bath/shower was interesting as the washbasin worktop overlap the access section! The breakfast was really good, a nice selection of cold meats and cheese, pastries, cereals etc.

No for travelling without car

We have traveled with my wife to Porto and decided to stay in this hotel just simply because of the price. The biggest issue with this hotel is the location... It's just terrible. We traveled without car and faced a huge issue. Closest village is 25 min walk from which you can access to the bus which goes 40 min to Porto. Issue with the bus is that the latest bus from Porto goes from central bus station at 8PM or 7PM depends on the week day. When you arrive back from Porto, usually it's already dark outside and while you're walking from the village to the hotel there are no area at the road for pedestrians!! You should be extremely careful walking through the night by the road to access to the hotel. We were really scared of being hit by the car, but thanks God Portuguese drivers seems to be careful and were slowing down seeing us. We had this exercise 3 days. This hotel is just to oversleep and not for travelling without car. We were spending about 20 EUR per day on travelling to Porto and back to the hotel. So don't be fooled by price, overpay a little and stay in Porto. You will spend more money if you stay in Ibis Porto Sul Europarque. The most important that seems hotel doesn't really care of travelers without car. About the room - quite old Ibis style plastic room. Nothing really to mention. The hotel is just to have a clean bed and somewhat bathroom.
