Everything was good , we were in second line of hotel so there is 5 min walk to get to next Novotel next to sea side.The only thing i didnt like and writing this coment is barmens at main seaside bar. They get too cocky and if not payed extra money serving is very poor and they treat customers really bad...

My first impression wasn’t great. At reception when trying to check in I was told I had to pay $100 or leave my passport behind due to too little luggage. I only had a cabin bag due to the restrictions on my flight ticket. I had to argue this case and after a phone all to the manager the man in reception would allow me to check in and to upgrade me to a family room. That was not what I had booked and I told him, but no it now had to be the family room. The overall room was very basic and not 5 star at all. The only toiletries was a shower cap and some half empty dirty shampoo and soap bottles. I have had more toiletries in a basic hotel before. The mirror is falling apart and had old toothpaste both in a clump in it and smeared on the glass. The toilet is in a separate room with no hand basin so you would need to get to the main bathroom to wash your hands after. The bed had plastic bed cover which made the whole sleeping experience bad the first night as it made me very sweaty. The food is ok. The best things with this place is the location and 3 staff that have been so nice and helpful throughout. 1- the young guy at the dinner service, Mohammed I believe his name is, was so kind and always helpful. 2- the make in reception at the beach wing that helped me trying to contact the excursion provider when they never turned up. I believe his name also was Mohammed 3- the young guy that always was there to help all the people over the streets especially when when the traffic was being hectic. Unfortunately I don’t know his name.

The sink does not drain. The air conditioner blows warm air. The toilet doesn't flush. There is no hot water. The water pressure is 3/10. When you begin to convey any complaint or frustration to the front desk, you are treated with the added service of being told what you are thinking and how you are feeling.

I stayed at this hotel for a week and we had booked 2 separate rooms for our family. I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel it’s important to leave my honest feedback about my vacation. The hotel seems to be getting excellent reviews on most portals and I really cannot understand how it achieved this. Perhaps the 5 star reviews are coming from people that are on holiday for their first time? I am comparing this hotel to the European standards, hence it could be different. Location of the hotel is good, you can walk to the shopping bit via promenade within 15 mins or so. The hotel itself is quite small. We stayed in the beach wing and the territory is not big, however you can use Palm wing across the road also. Our rooms were spacious and modern. Beds were comfortable. There was a bad smell from the drains in the bathroom, once you run water it would disappear for a couple of hrs, but then would smell again. There was no mini bar and the only items that were replenished daily were tea/coffee and water. Hotel looks very basic, there is no grand entrance at the reception/ music or even a bar. Staff. Reception staff were great and very helpful. Our maid cleaned rooms daily and does an amazing job, cleanliness is on point. Staff at the bar worked hard from morning till evening, but I think their mood could vary. Sometimes they will greet you with a smile and at other times it’s more of a cold service. Restaurant staff could be a bit better with their customer service skills. The host (young lady) is lovely and very welcoming every day. Waiters don’t seem be to happy and you have chase them to get your table cleaned. Often they don’t fully set the table or clean it properly, so it’s disappointing. Food and drinks. This part is extremely disappointing. The variety of food is very limited and quality is not the best. At breakfast we always get eggs, however if you want fried eggs or an omelette, be prepared that it will still be very runny and undercooked inside, despite asking the chef to keep it on longer. Lunch has different variety of food and most of the time it was satisfactory. We were not impressed with dinner and we did eat out a few times on this holiday. Poultry often was overcooked and impossible to eat. There are more options for vegetables than any other type of food. Seafood (crabs) were served once, but didn’t see any other types of seafood on the grill. My stepmother and I got terrible food poisoning during our holiday. We don’t know for sure if it was sushi from the hotels restaurants or the local gin from the bar. The rest of our family were fine. It was a terrible experience and I’ve never been poisoned on holidays before. The drinks are limited too and often beer wasn’t available. This was disappointing for my dad, but was also strange that it happened like at least 3 times when we’re there and staff just didn’t seem to rush to do something about it. I had a branded drink and I had to pay $11 for it, so quite pricey. Evening entertainment is pathetic at this hotel. During the day animation team does things at the beach, my son did join them and enjoyed himself. There are no slides or chutes in the beach wing for kids, only a one small one in the palm side. The beach is very close and handy as you don’t need to walk for long at all, it’s on your doorstep. At the beach you will be constantly pestered by someone offering you something (massage, buy perfume or join animation team for their daily exercise). What I didn’t like is the animation staff member (a lady) asking me if I left the review for the hotel yet and she wanted help me with it, which makes me think that some of the amazing reviews are not necessarily true. Please don’t expect to get drinks served to you either by the beach or by the pool. You will need to go to the bar yourself to get these. Also note that all drinks are served in plastic cups or paper cups(if take out), even wine was served to me a couple of times in a plastic cup, despite me sitting at the bar. You just don't get this kind of stuff in 5 star hotels. Cocktails are made out of anything, so every time it will taste differently. The hotel is full of Russian speaking guests and I assume it’s a very popular destination, as most Egyptians speak Russian also. The flights are flying over the hotel every 15-20mins, nobody mentioned this in their reviews, but you will experience noise constantly. By the end of the week you are used to it. Overall the hotel is very very average, probably more like a 3 star. I just wanted to warn people when they read all these amazing reviews and it doesn’t live up to your expectations when you are there.

Good Hotel, Wonderful Staff, Bad Reception Experience

Our family had stayed at this hotel before and was very satisfied, so my spouse and I decided to come as well. Unfortunately, during the first days, the reception staff named Mazen and Ahmed treated us poorly because our English is limited. They were unhelpful, and especially Ahmed showed disrespect by hanging up the phone on the translator we were speaking with. This behavior made the beginning of our holiday quite unpleasant. After contacting the head office, we were assisted by an employee named Khader. He solved all our problems and truly saved our holiday. Thanks to his professionalism and support, our stay became wonderful. We also felt very comfortable in the hotel restaurant. The staff members Mahmud and Mohammed treated us like family. We would also like to thank the chefs whose names we do not know. If you plan to visit this hotel, we recommend staying away from Mazen and Ahmed at the reception. Other than them, all the staff members are kind, helpful, and welcoming. You can feel at home here. The food is great, and the beach is excellent. We definitely recommend this hotel.
