Unfortunately I need to avoid this Accor property. As an Accor Plus Explorer Diamond member, this stay was disappointing, with no apparent loyalty recognition due to the busy season. The resort feels tired, with dated rooms, worn fixtures, and a standard that does not reflect the price. Water leaks during rain have led to foyer closures, damaged paintwork, and visible mould. Food and drinks are expensive, café hours are limited after breakfast, and laundry facilities are inadequate. Room cleanliness and food quality were below expectations. Not recommended, particularly for loyal Accor members.

Not really a fancy 5-star, more of a good family resort.

I agree with most other comments in this section - dated rooms, general minimal maintenance and a bit over priced. Some suggestions for management if they read this..... 1. Hire a roof plumber to fix the water leaks. Large sections of the foyer closed off when it rains, bubbling of paint in the rooms, some signs of mold and external fittings perishing. Its tropical QLD so the rain shouldn't be a surprise!! 2. Enforce the pool rules. So many people ignoring the posted rules, letting kids jump off decking, glassware everywhere. 3. Open the on-site Cafe longer. Maybe delay the opening until after breakfast service and stay open all afternoon. Some people need supplies and caffeine hits in the afternoon. 4. Buy a couple of modern and functioning washing machines. 1 machine ($10) and 2 $6 dryers that couldn't dry half a load. Ironic that a proudly cashless hotel needs 8 x $2 coins to use the laundry. 5. A bit of work poolside - a couple of extra umbrellas for shade, and maybe a bit of music would be good too. I reckon open up the room opposite the restaurant a bit more. 6. Attention to detail - cobwebs in hard to reach areas, bins in the room had used tissues and ear buds under the rubbish bag, premade desserts in the casual dining area were soggy and a bit tasteless. In positive news, breakfast and brekky staff were great, the foyer is a feature and the vibe on the deck on a Saturday night was pretty good too! Nice to see the kangaroos roaming and grounds are well kept. I think it's a good hotel for families and family groups. There are enough activities that fhe kids can keep themselves amused for eternity. It just wasn't the right vibe for a middle aged couple getaway. A bit isolated so we found a good local car hire to get us around, which was awesome. Overall, the resort should be accurately marketed as a family resort rather than say it's a 5 star facility.

We’ve just completed our stay at Novotel Resort Sunshine Coast and, unfortunately, it was a very poor experience from start to finish. Had no choice but to ride it out as it was non-refundable. I originally booked two Executive King Rooms under an Accor family promotion and called a month prior to arrival to ensure the rooms would be close together, as we were travelling with a young child and a teenager. I spoke with a reservations team member who advised this couldn’t be guaranteed and recommended that I pay extra to upgrade to a two-bedroom suite, assuring me it would meet our needs and be comparable in quality. Based on that advice, I cancelled my original booking and upgraded. On arrival (11 January), we were allocated Suite 113/114, which was shocking. The room was damp, mouldy, old and dirty, with a strong unpleasant odour. Two rollaway beds (which we did not request) were crammed into the lounge, making it feel more like a storage room than a resort suite. There were visible insect droppings and the overall condition was unacceptable. I raised this immediately with reception. While staff were apologetic, they did not appear surprised and acknowledged this suite was one of the few not yet renovated. We were told we could move to a renovated two-bedroom suite the following day, but for the first night we had to stay in two separate rooms on different floors. As a family holiday, this was far from ideal and completely undermined the “family-friendly” experience being marketed. The renovated suite we moved into the next day was an improvement visually, however it still smelled of mould, felt damp, had poor ventilation, and we continued to experience pest issues. We even suffered what appeared to be bed-related insect bites, which were reported to reception. The response was limited to changing the sheets. Despite multiple complaints, the resort was fully booked and no meaningful resolution was offered. We spent most of our stay wanting to be anywhere but the resort, which is incredibly disappointing given the cost, effort, and expectations attached to this holiday. We were genuinely relieved to leave. This stay fell well below Novotel standards and was not remotely worth the premium price we paid for an upgrade. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this property, particularly for families.

Outdated and poorly maintained hotel. The rooms were disgusting, with dust almost everywhere and dirty carpets that were pulling up at the corners. Beds were uncomfortable and rooms smelt of mould.

False Advertising, Terrible Condition, Fraudulent Charges, No Attempt to Fix - Definitely not a 4 star ‘Resort’

I have emailed the Novotel Sunshine Coast requesting a refund of incorrect charges for an ‘upgrade’ that was anything but! Staff that tried to fix our disastrous accomodation told us that I would not be charged an upgrade however, when I went to check out 6 days later, I was told that they had already done an express check out and they stated that there had been no additional charges. However, when I checked my bank account after boarding my flight back home, I found that they had charged me an upgrade fee TWICE! $645.86 NZD and $646.07 NZD! I am utterly disappointed, angry & astounded even that they have charged this, and not responded to my email requesting this to be resolved. After the terrible experience we had with check in and our first night in the ‘suite’ 193. I had fallen for an email advertising the ‘upgrade’ opportunity. After reviewing the very limited amount of photos on their website, I agreed to an upgrade. NOTE: Photos of 193 in the state it’s in now, or any room that hasn’t been refurbished, are NOT advertised/shown on their website. Totally False advertising! Imagine the horror we felt when we entered room 193. It was in disrepair, the pull out couch bed wasn’t even worthy of use as a couch, not sitting well, with massive rips and tears in the cushions. The floor was dirty, walls had gashes, majority of power points in the place didn’t work. The louvre doors had thick dust between every slat, looking like they’d never been cleaned. Also, having 2 louvre doors does not create a separate bedroom! Sound & light get through. One nights sleep on the pullout couch caused me so much pain throughout my back, neck and shoulders. Room 193 does not belong in a ‘Resort’! I understand that they are refurbishing parts of the Resort at a time… but they can’t seriously consider charging guests an ‘upgrade’ fee to stay in a room/‘suite’ that are not fit for paid accommodation. I haven’t seen such bad conditioned accommodation in 40 years in either student flats or hotels or motels. Both my Mother in Law and myself, were too embarrassed to take photos and share with family, and when family came to visit, we were too ashamed to let them come into the room/‘suite’. I met another guest during my stay that was as disgusted when she was placed in one of the ‘suites’. She was given a $250AUD refund on her stay! Yet they charged me $1,300 for 6 nights for a fake ‘upgrade’ that gave myself and my mother in law the WORST night of our lives - ever! And we have both traveled extensively for many years. We only stayed in the awful ‘suite’ for one night as one of their helpful staff moved us. We should not have to pay for the first night (Monday 5th) at all and certainly not have bern charged any upgrade. I do want to commend 2 of their staff for their brilliant customer service. Thomas and Toby (might have been Brody). Their patience, care and willingness to find solutions and help guests, is commendable and what Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort management should hold as the gold standard for all staff to aim for. They did you proud and are the only reason that my Mother in Law & I didn’t leave on the 6th and move our accommodation elsewhere. However, the crafty ‘express’ checkout where an additional $1,300 was charged undid all the good those staff did. We had to pay for everything as we went e.g. lunches, dinners and bar orders as we were told (very rudely) by a female front desk staff member that they only let gold & silver members do charge back. Every hotel I have ever stayed at has done charge back, even other Novotel hotels. Novotel Sunshine Coast ‘Resort’ delivered the worst accommodation experience ever!!
