Not the restful night it should have been

We booked here as we were travelling on a Friday night and would be arriving late (around midnight) with our 2 children. On arrival we got a friendly welcome and were given our prepared keys, but unfortunately neither of these worked in the room door. After getting replacement keys made at Reception we got into our room and laid our young children on the pull out bed only for one of them to fall through the bed onto the floor. Some of the wooden supports on the pull out bed were broken or missing altogether. I raised this with Reception at the time but they had no suggestion of a room change. We managed to put in place a temporary fix with cushions under the bed but it shouldn't really have been for us to make a workable bed in what should be a decent hotel. Breakfast the next morning was fine but they did start clearing away rather earlier than the end of the published finish time.

However, we are sorry to hear about the problems you encountered with your room keys and the sofa bed. Your comfort and that of your children is of the utmost importance to us. We sincerely apologize for the condition of the cot and the inconvenience caused. Please be assured that we have immediately informed our maintenance team so that a rigorous check can be carried out on all our booster beds to ensure that they are in good condition. We have also reminded our reception team of the importance of offering appropriate solutions in such situations. Concerning breakfast, we are delighted that it was to your liking, but we apologize for the fact that the service was shortened. We will reinforce our instructions so that the buffet remains available until the scheduled time. The room smelt of stale smoke and its was a non smoking room as was the hotel, it was dirty!! stains all over the filthy carpet, the lady on reception was rude and quite insulting, I would rather sleep in my car than ever stay here again, absolutely awful, also I paid extra for breakfast and it probably was the worst ive ever had, yuk don't go you have been warned.

The entire hotel is non-smoking, but unfortunately some guests smoke in the rooms despite the ban, which we deplore. The housekeeper and head of reception have been informed of your comment and will take the necessary action to ensure that this does not happen again. Hotel Mercure Reception and fancy articles shiwroom and point of sale. Nice traditional articles several are over priced. Bar and Restaurant are okay. Hotel Mercure is okay too. Parking, fine. Meeting rooms fine. Mini-break options/pauze +/-

One star too many! Booked one night, half pension. Baby bed was available, but partly broke… Dinner was awful, just awful! As starter I got cold spaghetti with pesto, when I told the waitress it was cold, the reply was ‘that is how it should be’. Yeah right, lived in Italy 1.5 years, this is not right! Main was a fish brochette, placed on three leaves of salad. Plain, no taste, and not enough. Just sad… For dessert a brick of cold chocolate brownie, ok but nothing more. Breakfast was ok, served (as with dinner) in the cold and unpleasant meeting room as the restaurant was being renovated. When checking out, an additional €10 was charged without reason. Told the guy at the lobby, who wasn’t capable of depositing it back. We’ll see whether I get it. Overall: no Mercure for me anymore, you guys ruined it.

I regret that this disappointment had a significant impact on your entire stay. As you mentioned, we are currently renovating our catering areas to better accommodate our customers. Stayed here on our London to Paris cycle ride. Nice rooms with good facilities. Breakfast was plentiful, beds comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to families and businesses, who are looking for a hotel to stay in en-route to Paris.
