Great location, problems in the room itself

Hotel's location is great, just a few minutes walk from the castle. The room was fine, but I did experience some problems: the room landline was broken with no dial tone. the hairdryer would work for a minute or two and cut out, and anyone trying to use the shower and bath needed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. The bath appeared not to have a plug and when our Tour Manager asked at reception on my behalf, he was told "She shouldn't be having a bath, it's not environmentally friendly". Don't put one in the room then. The plug-hole closes invisibly by turning a chrome dial, you have no idea it's shut as it doesn't look any different and I was told this was what the architect wanted. Keep it Simple please! Room kept clean and if they can iron out the "over designed" elements, it's a good place. But not 4 star.

Good location, 500 m from the old town

The hotel is in a good location, The food is okay, the rooms have a basic cleaning service, your bed is made but little Mo is done the bar shuts at 10 o’clock so you can’t get a drink if you come back to the hotel late It is the location that makes this hotel. It was pretty effortless walking into the old town.

Good base for visiting the city and the region

The hotel is well-situated, a short walk from the medieval Cité, and from the No.2, No.3, and airport shuttle bus stops. We stayed for a week, which seemed to surprise the staff and locals we spoke to—most people just seem to visit Carcassonne for a day or two as part of a longer tour. The quickest way to the Cité (mediaeval town) from the hotel is through a car park, but it does involve a short, steep climb followed by quite a few steps. Walking around the outside of the car park is easier and takes a bit longer, but the pavement isn’t great. A walk into the Ville Basse (new town) takes about 20-25 minutes—go via Pont Neuf if you want to snap a photo of the Cité and Pont Vieux in the same shot! The hotel rooms are fairly small, but clean and modern. Ours was on the top floor, which meant it had just one small window. Air conditioning worked fine when required. We did miss having a fridge, though—understandable given the hotel’s eco-friendly aspirations, but as we were only staying B&B, having no way to keep any of our own food or drinks cool turned out to be surprisingly inconvenient at times. Water and reusable glass bottles are available from a cooler beside reception, though. The room safe was free of charge, but it was ridiculously high up—I’m fairly tall, but I couldn’t see in the bottom of it, and my wife couldn't reach it at all. WiFi is free, but speed and time-limited unless you sign up for a free account with the hotel chain, with all that entails. As our room had no balcony, the garden area would have been a nice place to sit out in the sun. But the chairs and sofas were just metal frames, and their cushions were all removed after the first day of our stay and never put back. That left just the small pool area to relax outdoors. The sun loungers there were comfortable enough, but in September only an even smaller area catches the sun during the day. The pool bar had its supposed opening hours posted on its shutters, but we never saw it open even when we expected it to be. Breakfast offerings were fairly standard. There was no cooking station, so despite being advertised around the hotel, the crêpes on offer were cold, but tasty enough. The dinner menu changed every day. We only availed once, but the food was good and the price was reasonable. Service was pretty slow, probably as there were a couple of large tour groups in that evening. They were mostly accommodated in a large room off the main dining room, so they weren’t much of a distraction otherwise. (Unlike one particular group of British tourists who were being a bit lairy all round the hotel one day.) Main bar prices were pretty standard. However, there’s no proper bar area as such, you just have to sit either outside or in the reception seating area with your drinks. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and overall it was a good base for visiting the city and the region.

Wow! Booked as last minute stop over on way back to airport picked for location near airport and citadel and price wasn't sure what to expect but this place is gorgeous ! They gave us one of their largest rooms which was more like a suite it was huge! Immaculate room comfy and staff were so helpful it was a pleasure to stay and prompted us to feel would like to come back here for a mini break. We had to leave early so didn't eat here but all looked nice
