The highlights were 1. the hotel receptionist who was helpful and shared a personal restaurant recommendation which was perfect (we returned to the same restaurant on consecutive evenings as it was so good). 2. the breakfast. The quality of the food and choices was fantastic. A real honeycomb, exquisite yoghurts in pots, selection of nuts, fruits and seeds, different types of butter in individual paper wraps. If you appreciate food, you may like this. 3. the view from the first floor bar and breakfast room. Our room was super sized for our needs and had a bathroom designed for guests with limited mobility. The room didn’t have a view but that was fine. It was quiet and the bed was enormous - almost a double, double bed size. The location is perfect.

Not a Quiet or Restful Experience

Negative: the exterior walls are paper thin therefore, guests cannot possibly experience a quiet and restful stay; do not ask for sea view unless you don't mind noise either from across the street, bus stops, and generally loud noises. Make sure you let management know that if an upgrade is offered, you must be told in advance; if you don't like stairs then only request the classic; the building is old, elevator slow, but the breakfast offered is awesome; beds are comfortable; staff are courteous and friendly;

Great view and nice hotel, however the thermostat didn't work. We would wake up during the night sweating and uncomfortable. No air circulating at all. Couldn't open the windows due to the noise. Management said they had someone check the problem, but nothing was fixed. I asked for a fan which luckily they had and it helped circulate the air during the night. I would think they would compensate for this at checkout, but they didn't. Just said they could give us some points which we would probably never use.

This is tucked away in a side street that runs parallel to the Marseille wharf area but well-located. It is a little tired and has a construction site next door however the Accor group has endeavoured to spruce it up. Initially we had a room looking away from the wharf area and decided to upgrade for 50e to a dock view room. It was worth it as you could see all the movement and change of mood across the harbour. The other rooms would be darker and much less interesting. Room was comfortable and well=appointed. Reception staff were very helpful. Great little bar on first floor overlooking wharf area. Breakfast seemed expensive, full buffet style, when much cheaper patisserie cafe breakfasts are available nearby.
