We spent Christmas holidays in IBIS hotel. I was asking for a quiet room and we got a family room facing away from street noise. The beds were very comfortable and we had a large TV.The bathroom was bigger as it was designed for disabled people. The only downside was that the room was getting warm enough via the air conditioning. So we got a portable electric heater from reception. Everything ok then. IBIS is centrally located in Greenwich. Greenwich is a great area for family trips. It's safe and relaxed with UNESCO heritage buildings now housing Greenwich university. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants university. Best thing is the walk througe the park to the old observatory to catch one of the best views over London.

Room 229 has a view over the aircon units. It was small but quiet. Location-wise it was spot on being in the heart of Greenwich and only five minutes from the train and DLR.

Well, first the positive. The hotel is located close to the train station as well as the water taxi station, which allows easy and comfortable access to London and the City. The neighborhood is surrounded by pubs and lovely coffees. The check-in was a nice experience, however somehow the only one. Not telling me, I received an upgrade to an Ibis-plastic-style bathroom room. Unfortunately there has been drainage smell during my entire stay. Complaining during the stay has been unheard, complaining after the stay led to a minimal price reduction of less than 20%. All the rest of the hotel, ok is an Ibis, but even for that below average.

The location is great and close to the O2 and at least it was clean, BUT the room — well if the reception and the hallways are more warm and inviting than the rooms, then that's a serious red flag for me! I got into the room and my heart sunk. The decor was grey, depressing and a cold VINYL floor in the sleeping area. Who wants to get up in the morning and stand straight onto a cold floor? And the room was a bit on the chilly side and the only way to heat it up was with a NOISY integrated fan heating system which is like a loud hair dryer. And a sign saying something like "if you find the heating system inadequate, then we can provide a small fan heater", that's pretty telling that the "powers that be" know the room isn't fit for purpose. The bathroom felt like one of those portable shower cubicles you see at festivals and the flush broke on the toilet. One saving grace was the staff were helpful and got straight to fixing it, but even the best customer service doesn't change the fact the room was cold, depressing and looked like something out of Black Mirror. This is a 3 star hotel and I've slept in Travelodge rooms more inviting than this, and they at least have CARPETS. I paid for 2 days in advance on the saver rate, but I decided to pack up and go elsewhere (I've never done that before by the way). In short, I don't expect luxury at that price, but if the hallways are more inviting than the room, then there's something seriously wrong here. Sure, I might have asked if there was a better room available, but if they think it's ok to charge £120 a night for what I got, then I'm taking my business elsewhere!

This type of system provides gentle temperature regulation but can feel different from a full air-conditioning unit, particularly on warmer or cooler days. I am sorry that this did not provide the level of comfort you expected. Regarding rates, we aim to offer good value for the area and the season, but I understand why you chose to continue your stay elsewhere.
