One staff member spoilt our last night

We have had a lovely stay here at the Ibis Gent Centrum until our last night today. The woman serving at the bar was so very rude to my husband, we were totally shocked. She poured a 1/3 of a glass of beer, which was clearly not enough. When my husband questioned her she said, ' I can fill it up, but you will need to pay more'. This is a worrying response I would suggest dishonest too.l suggest this member of staff needs staff development in customer communication in order to avoid further negative customer experience which has spoilt an otherwise really great stay

A wonderful trip to Ghent spoilt on the last night

Our stay at the Ibis hotel was part of a large group of Cardiff Male Choir who had performances booked at the adjacent cathedral and other Belgian venues. The rooms were clean and the breakfast of good quality. However, the last nigh of our stay was marred by an extremely rude bar person. Having waited patiently whilst she served another customer, I then asked for a glass of wine and a beer. She then pointed to people who were sat down behind us and said they were first and needed to be served. The people came to the bar but didn't know what they wanted so she served me with a glass of beer that was 25% beer and 75% froth. When I objected, she said I would have to pay extra for the glass to be filled. We left immediately and complained to the receptionist who said it was not the first time a complaint had been received about this person. The whole episode spoilt what had been a very enjoyable trip to Ghent as a result of which neither my wife and I nor the group will stay at the hotel again. Very disappointed.

Great budget hotel in city center

Great little hotel near the historic city center. The rooms are small, but literally my window looked out on Saint Baafs Kathedral. So close to everything. If you are a light sleeper, be aware of church bells and night life noise. Not too bad though. Friendly staff. You couldn’t have a more prime location for Ghent

Wow… this is a nice Ibis hotel !!!! As Platinum member I got upgraded to a larger room… and it was really really nice. Clean and spacious room (yes, it’s an Ibis !). Good and pleasant bar. Nice breakfast. Efficient and friendly service.

Ideal location for exploring Ghent, room clean, bed comfortable. Good range of dishes available at breakfast, so plenty of choice. The staff worked hard at keeping food levels up. We can only assume that whoever designs and installs the toilets in an Ibis hotel room is less than 5ft tall. The toilet is sideways in an alcove so a guest of average or above height has to sit on it sideways! This caused some hilarity in our large party, we all commented on the difficulties this caused! It’s fairly standard to have tea/coffee making facilities in hotel rooms so we’re surprised that this wasn’t provided. We would have felt happier if access to rooms was restricted by using room cards to activate lifts.
