I have to say I was very disappointed with my experience at the Novotel in Athens. Prior to booking this hotel, I read the reviews and people were giving great reviews and the overall rating was 4 stars. The staff were not professional, except for the nice lady that came to us with some things to do in Athens. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel here’s why. I had booked 3 months prior to our travel and there was a great deal for family as we had 6 people all up - which gave us two standard rooms and 50% discounts for the second room. I received one email to confirm this booking and it says that we had only €379 left to pay at the hotel - as they had deducted 50% of the cost at booking. When we went to check in, we were confronted by a lady that was not so friendly. She asked us how we wanted to pay for the remaining amount, which we asked if we can split the remaining amount on two credit card, which she said yes to but she ended up charging €379 on each of our credit charge. When we realised what she had done, we told her she made a mistake. She told us we had it wrong, and that the €379 remaining was for only one room. I told her I had rang the hotel after the booking to confirm the outstanding amount, as I did think the offer was too good to be true, and at the time the hotel had advised me at we only had to pay €379 upon checking into the hotel for the two rooms. We didn’t get an apology for the misled information and ended up having to pay double the amount that we were initially told to pay - misleading and false advertising. We had dinner one of the nights at there roof top restaurant, which had the view of the Acropolis- which was nice but the food was ordinary but super expensive. We had ordered the mussels, it was so salty we could only stomach 1/4 of it and we told the waitress when she asked us how was the meal - of how salty it was, she just smiled and took the dish away. The pool was ridiculously shallow. The worst part is the location of this hotel, it is located in the slum area Athen - lots of graffiti, homelessness and druggies. Not ideal for family or young people. No wonder they had the discounted rooms. We found we had to uber it, to go anywhere, and there was no real good eateries nearby. Definitely not 4 star rating - travellers be aware of this hotel.

Staff accomodated our many requests, and delivered excellent service all the time. Nice roof top pool, with sunbeds and complimentary towels. Great room (suite). Lot of space. Separate wc room. Short and cheap taxi rides to all sights of Athens.

Very bad hotel. I mean we stayed at so many novotels and this is by far the worst of all. To begin with the check in staff except for one bearded guy were all rude. They don't know the meaning of hospitality. The elevators don't have lights in them. The rooms are from the ancient Greek civilization if you know what I mean... we requested an iron and I even went down to get it assuming this is europe and no one will bring it to my room they still didn't give it to me... we left rhe hotel for sightseeing and then they left it out of our room. We were told by the check in staff that we will get a free welcome drink by scanning the qr code when we went back to take it... another person at the recpetion told us so rudely - "what welcome drink you are not an elite member" or whatever they call a higher member status...staying in novotel for so many years never been humiliated like this...Please see other places to stay in Athens you will find better places at much cheaper rates. My suggestion - AVOID NOVOTEL ATHENS

Enjoyable stay. Rooftop pool was the highlight and the rooms were decent. Location was a bit dodgy looking in places but it was fairly central. Service was very good and we had a good 3 days

We had a very pleasant stay for 3 nights. The staff were wonderful and very friendly, and accommodating. They loved our kids and the hotel was very family/kid friendly. The location was perfect, close to transportation to get to all the attractions. A lot of restaurants and places to grab a drink or snack. Rooms were a little small, especially if you have a larger family but they were comfortable, well maintained, and clean. The amenities were amazing and plentiful, the food and drinks in the restaurant were great! Would definitely stay again in the future.
