This resort is great for a short break! Great location, great quality, great pool! Our room, although not an apartment, was generously sized and had lovely décor and great view. Only suggestion is to increase the threshold between shower area and bathroom area since it can get wet. Everything in walking distance to restaurants and harbour for trips on the water or for collection for other tours, such as Daintree Rainforest or Kuranda Railway. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful The highlight was the pool. It has its own bar and an adjacent eating area. There are also two undercover shaded areas at each end of the pool besides the sunny areas for just chilling out, as well as lawns where you are welcome to spread out your towels or the provided bean bags. We spent our last day just relaxing round the pool and did our laundry, great way to finish the 5 days we were there.

2 star for their good breakfast Stepping into the Novotel Cairns with my two young children (aged 3 and 6), we expected a standard, reliable stay—but what we got was a saga of frustration that left us thoroughly disappointed with the brand. The issues began quickly. We discovered **ants in our room**, a major problem when traveling with small kids. What was truly shocking, however, was the management's response. After complaining to at least four different staff members, including the highest-ranking manager, not once did anyone simply say, **"We are sorry for the trouble."Their standard reply was that an ant problem is "common" in the region, a baffling explanation for a major hotel brand. The problem compounded: we were moved to a replacement room that also had ants. Furthermore, the electronic key failed three times before a technician was finally called to fix the lock's **dead battery**. On top of all this, the small rooms had squeaky, lumpy beds, and the A/C unit was visibly blowing lint and dirt, clearly indicating a filter that hadn't been changed in years. After enduring multiple maintenance failures, two rooms with ants, and the constant hassle, the greatest insult was the management’s complete lack of courtesy. Despite hearing about all the trouble, no one offered even a simple free breakfast or drink to acknowledge the inconvenience. This experience suggested a fundamental lack of training or care. A hotel should be run by people who know how to manage guests with finesse and basic hospitality. I learned a bitter lesson about corporate negligence and a lack of guest care that makes me confident in my final verdict: I will never stay with Novotel again and strongly recommend others seek alternatives.

We've travelled to Far North Queensland several times before but never stayed in Cairns itself. This resort is awesome! Great location, great quality, great pool! There are so many positives. Our room, although not an apartment, was generously sized and had lovely decor. The breakfast choices were better than most 5-star hotels, with the bonus of being able to sit indoors or out. We arrived in the evening after a 3.5 hour flight and were able to order food from the bar which we enjoyed while chilling out to chill music on a comfy lounge outdoors. It set the tone for our entire stay. The highlight was the pool. It has its own bar and an adjacent eating area. There are also two undercover shaded areas at each end of the pool besides the sunny areas for just chilling out, as well as lawns where you are welcome to spread out your towels or the provided bean bags. Party central!

This hotel was fine. Good selection for breakfast, but the room were tired. The pool did not have enough chairs and umbrellas. We did like that there was guest laundry. One bright spot - Melanie and Blair in the restaurant. They were great!
