Disappointing manager

Dear Gregor I am extremely disappointed with the service that I received in one of the hotels that you are in charge off. The initial incident was not as bad as what happened after. Overall this is not something you expect from such a big and popular establishment like Novotel!!! On the first day of going to the breakfast buffet we saw there were just scrambled eggs (we had no issue with this at all, if this was the only egg product) however we asked the staff and were told we can tell the chef how we would like our eggs and they would make it for us. When asked for two fried eggs, they brought the eggs with the white part completely uncooked. We asked if they could just flip it over and cook it and the staff seemed annoyed and took the eggs away. 10minutes later we got nothing, when we went to enquire the manager apologised, went and spoke to the staff who later came back with 2 burnt eggs and throws them on the table. We were very upset with this service however we did not say anything. The manager then came to our table to ask how was our breakfast, upon telling him, we had a discussion, he apologised and offered a refund for 2 peoples breakfast for one day. When leaving I asked about the refund and he told me booking.com would process this. Upon return I have enquired about the refund and Novotel have fabricated a story and stated they made us eggs three different times after knowing that was not in their service (which is not true) and we were not happy all three times. I am extremely disappointed that you have appointed a manager that not only, does not uphold their promise to a customer but also lies about the story. Extremely shocked to have seen such service from a big chain hotel such as Novotel. The refund is an extremely small price, however it is the principle of what was promised to a customer, should be delivered. I hope to hear a direct response from you to see what will be done about this.

Very average and not the Novotel experience you would expect!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August. Pros - the location is amazing - literally 14mins drive to Marseille. The car park is very spacious and free to use. The pool is very well maintained, clean and nice to use, pool towels provided from reception free of charge to use and return. The staff at breakfast are very friendly and the range is quite nice. Cons - it took 9 days from us reporting the fridge in our room not working for them bringing us one from a different room. The air conditioning barely works and the room was so warm! The staff on reception speak very limited English so often it is difficult to communicate if there are any issues. Although the breakfast provided is quite nice, it is poorly managed as things often run out (juice, bread, fruit) and either not topped up or often warm. The room we stayed in was clean but very old looking and not the typical Novotel style you would expect. The sink leaked our entire stay, often towels and toilet rolls were not replenished by the cleaning staff.

We spent 2 nights August 29 and 30). I have been a Gold Accord member for over 20 years and this is the first time I have faced such a situation. I find it unacceptable not to warn your customers when booking that certain categories of customers are allowed to bathe fully clothed, whether they are men or women. While your hotel is ALLSAFE labeled, how can you ensure that the water is clean, how can you make sure that clothes have not been worn for hours or even days. As much as it shocks me less in the sea, but that is not acceptable in a swimming pool. We were therefore unable to take advantage of your facilities even though we had chosen your hotel for its swimming pool. Was this decision made on your own or is it a group decision?

I like to come back to the Novotel. The building bring back in time is so old. Can you do better TV channels no English? American yes but not English. The Staff are helpful and friendly. Do we will come back? Yes

This hotel was booked a little late because of problems with our holiday - however - the service and experience despite this was excellent! The room was nice enough but overall the hotel felt a little dated and in need of modernization, especially the bathroom! The restaurant was of good quality and convenient. This hotel is not near to the center of Marseilles!
