The good news is that the renovation has now been completed and our swimming pool has just reopened. Unfortunately, the exceptional heatwave caused delays to the renovation schedule, which is why the pool remained closed longer than originally planned. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, doch zonder airco op de kamer tijdens een hittegolf is het moeilijk aangenaam te noemen. Restaurant was ook gesloten doch via roomservice kon men wel een maaltijd bestellen.

Het hotel ligt in een wat achterafgelegen buurt waar helaas veel afval op straat ligt. Gelukkig rijd je via een beveiligde poort het terrein op, dat er netjes uitziet – afgezien V. de bouwmaterialen vanwege de lopende renovatie. Het hotel wordt momenteel grondig gerenoveerd, en dat lijkt ons een goed idee: het heeft veel potentie. Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen, maar voor de kinderen volgde meteen een enorme teleurstelling: het zwembad was gesloten wegens de renovatie. Juist daarom hadden we dit hotel gekozen! Het was fijn geweest als we hierover vooraf geïnformeerd waren. De eerste kamer die we kregen lag in het deel V. het hotel dat verbouwd wordt. De kamer rook naar verf en in het plafond V. de badkamer zat een gat met loshangende kabels. Na een melding bij de receptie kregen we zonder problemen een andere kamer toegewezen – en die was prima in orde. We verbleven met twee volwassenen en twee kinderen in een kamer met een groot bed en een uitklapbare slaapbank, geschikt voor twee (niet al te grote) kinderen. De nacht verliep uitstekend. Ook het ontbijt was erg goed: vriendelijke bediening en voldoende verse keuze. Al met al vertrokken we met gemengde gevoelens. Geen zwembad en een hotel nog volop in verbouwing, maar de algemene ervaring was toch redelijk. Prima voor één overnachting na een lange reis. We komen waarschijnlijk nog eens terug – mits het zwembad dan open is en we direct een goede kamer krijgen.

Zeer gehorige kamers, het lijkt wel of er tot na twaalven ‘s-nachts schoongemaakt werd in de kamer boven mij, ‘s-morgens vanaf vijf uur werd ik wakker door geluiden V. nabijgelegen kamers. Warme kamer en geen mogelijkheid zelf de airco lager te zetten. Wasbak water loopt erg langzaam weg. Weinig klerenhangers in de kamer. De buurt en aanrijroute zijn armoedig; een hek sluit het hotelterrein af en dat is prima maar geeft wel een dubbel gevoel.
