Our stay was fantastic as always. The standards kept in this Fairmont is truly sterling over the last few decades. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and the food was solid as always. A true gem.

This stay had a few thoughtful touches and a beautiful setting, but overall did not meet expectations for a high-end, expensive hotel. The location is gorgeous and was a highlight of the stay, and the complimentary reusable water bottles and reduced single-use plastics showed a welcome commitment to sustainability. However, the room felt dated, especially for the price point, and there were not enough conveniently placed outlets for charging electronics. The bathroom lacked the luxurious feel expected in a high-end property, such as a nicer bathtub or more elevated finishes, and robes were not stocked in the room on arrival and had to be requested, which is surprising at this level of hotel. When the room door battery died, staff said someone would be right up, but the wait was long enough that it became necessary to leave for dinner with all belongings, creating an avoidable inconvenience that would have been even more disruptive if there had been a need to change clothes or freshen up before an event. In the building, there was only one ice machine on the 4th floor, and the elevator closest to the room was broken, turning a simple trip for ice into a long, inconvenient walk; the ice machine then stopped working by the third day and, although this was reported, it was not fixed during the stay, leading to multiple frustrating, unsuccessful trips. For the price and positioning of this hotel, the combination of dated rooms, service delays, and unresolved maintenance issues made the experience fall short of expectations, and I would not be a choice to stay here again except if required for the same work conference.

This was my fourth trip to the Fairmont Orchid in the last 10 years. The property is truly a magical place. The grounds are gorgeous...pool and beach are never too crowded. However this may be our last trip. It just feels like food and service have gone downhill. We have always struggled to get wait staff to be responsive on the upstairs open air spot. Even so, it used to be our favorite place to relax before and after dinner because of the mellow live acoustic music with that Hawaii vibe. Unfortunately on the second day of our stay the musician said he had just been informed that they were discontinuing music there now. The front desk confirmed that and said they had just abruptly found that out as well . The signs all over the property advertise live music nightly up there. Not anymore:( The breakfast buffet is great. The pool bar food is pretty good. However we tried the high end Asian restaurant last year and the food was overpriced and not good. This time we made a reservation at Browns Beach House our last night just to hear some mellow live music and sit outside. The atmosphere was fabulous. However when you spend over $400 with a tip for two people to eat you expect fantastic food. Out pork belly appetizer was like flavorless tough leather. Couldn't finish it. Our entrees were just average at best. Definitely not worth the price, so we won't be going back there. With the limitations on good restaurants , the loss of the live music atmosphere and the spotty wait staff service I think sadly it's time to find another place to try when we come back in 2028

We enjoyed the pool and beach (snorkeling, kayaking). Room and large bathroom were nice. We had difficulty with getting pleasant food that satisfied food allergies. Our AC smelled moldy.
