Scuttle along to the Mandurah Crab Festival

Western Australia's (WA) Mandurah is located south of Perth and is a coastal city that's got plenty going on.

This March, the Mandurah Crab Fest will bring locals and visitors out in droves. In fact, over 130,000 people enjoyed the festival last year! From the foreshores of Mandjar Square to the Peel-Harvey Estuary, all of Mandurah is on display over the weekend of March 15 and 16. The Festival aims to celebrate the coastal lifestyle of the city and aside from delicious seafood and other fare, there's also a range of activities for family-friendly fun. Whether you're getting involved in the outdoor art competition or watching celebrity chefs whip up a storm, there's something for everyone. Kids will enjoy the Marina Aqua fun zone, while the whole family will be amazed by the fireworks display on the night of March 15. As the name suggests, crabs are certainly a feature on the festival menu, though there's an array of food to please any palate.  Food and wine stalls include The Flying Fish, Thee Shucker and Burning Tastebuds - for those who like something a bit more fiery. There are also waffles, fine cheeses, gooey Spanish-style quesadillas, Cajun fare, tasty pizza, sumptuous paella, donuts, homemade fudge, and quality nuts. And those are just some of the food stalls! The Good Guys Cooking Stage will entertain punters, with live cooking demonstrations running on both days at 10 am, 11:25 am, 12:50 pm, 1:50 pm, 3:15 pm and 4:10 pm.  Seafood features heavily at this festival (no surprises there) with crab, prawn and squid-based meals being dished up everywhere.  Once you've stuffed yourself with a tasty lunch, head along to Mandjar Square to sample crisp ciders and quality wines from the region.
