1. Booked a year ago, reconfirmed our desire to have a room on a specific side of the hotel when they phoned a week or so before our arrival, given a room on the totally opposite side of the hotel, forcing a move 2 days later to our preferred side. 2. Overcharged $2500, this was credited 3 days later. I was advised, but shouldn't happen. 3. Why bother check in on line, still stood at counter for 20 mins or more. 4. Room 1, mold in bathroom, dirty toilet, stained carpets and couch dust in kitchen area, Room 2 only marginally better. 5. Lifts filthy no attempt to clean for the 6 days we were there. 6. Caught cleaning staff doing glass cleaning - a rinse under cold water and turned upside down. They looked very sheepish and polished with tissues. I would have thought in a " 5 star hotel" clean glasses would be supplied daily. 7. Saturday night a wedding with a band that would have made ACDC sound tame. No warning this was to happen. We would have stayed at dinner longer. 8. In summary a tired hotel, propped up by good staff and the Noosa image, needs competition to make it get up to a standard. 9. Still haven't received an email on the breakdown of the charges we incurred 10. First time in many years we haven't booked to go back.

Mostly a great experience

Over the past 30 years I have stayed at this resort hotel 13 times... many when it was a Sheraton. I usually pick a river view room on an upper floor which is spacious and has great view up the Noosa River to the hills. The room has not been renovated for many years but is still functional - large with a couch area and table, a very comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi and a reasonable bathroom. I used to write this was my favourite hotel in Australia because of- great rooms & great breakfasts and specially its great location. There is one problem - when paying over $800 per night for a room, I expect the hotel to have a comfortable bar for guests for a late afternoon or pre-dinner drinks. Apart from the public bar on the street in front which has limited seating anyway, there is a small Sunset Bar for guests but on two of the nights I was there, this was closed for a private function. No alternatives were offered. Even when it was open on other nights it is quite small and staffed by only 2 people which is often totally inadequate. They were flat out but a 20-minute wait for a drink is unacceptable for such a place. The hotel has available space and could easily overcome this issue but doesn't seem to want to - a pity for an otherwise great hotel.

We recently stayed at the hotel in school holidays. We have eaten many many times at the front bar and restaurant but never stayed so thought it would be a treat instead of our usual Noosaville accommodation. I was expecting 5-star, at close to $700 a night that’s what you’d expect, at best the hotel is a four. The rooms are large, that is nice, fabulous view up the river but seriously, a makeover is well overdue! Furniture (g-plan/sweedish) looking really tired, bland, didn’t fill the space and bloody uncomfortable. The sofa bed had seriously seen better days, felt sorry for my 9-year old sleeping on it? windows behind tv filthy, no modern usb/c charging points and the bathroom decor very very tired. Shower head and pressure were terrible, no drawers in vanity units nor shelves so no where to put wash bags etc.. We had to call front desk twice to have the sofa bed made up, surely if you have booked in with kids being left to the very last on the turn down service is not a great option! Wardrobes had 4 hangers in! Why? Again another call to get more hangers for 3 people’s clothes- pet hate in hotels!! Pool area: I have to say this is nice, great pool but very pricey poolside bar $8 for a magnum ice cream, $20 for chicken goujons and fries) . Gets crowded very quickly. The worst experience was breakfast- what an absolute nightmare. Totally disappointed. Disorganised, over crowded, had to ask for terrines to be restocked with food so we could eat, it was absolutely chaotic. We had booked for 3 days but couldn’t face going back after the first mornings experience. Based on the fact this hotel holds prime position on one of the most affluent vacation spots in Queensland I was underwhelmed on a grand scale. The staff were very nice, especially the team’s cleaning the rooms, but my hod they have their work cut out. Came very close to ruining our weekend away. Not great Sofitel.. the brand is definitely slipping.

This is our 2nd time staying at the Sofitel Noosa and it does not disappoint. The atmosphere, location and rooms are amazing. The bed is super comfortable and pillows are like clouds. Love the feel around the pool with being able to order food and drinks while lazing around the pool or swimming up to the pool bar. Staff are always friendly.

I appreciate everything is relative but I have given this 3 stars on the basis of the cost and that’s it prides itself on being a five star hotel. I felt check in process was substandard, and when we entered the room, it wasn’t overly clean. The pool towels were something of what you would expect of a 3 star hotel in Europe. The pool area was okay but it just wasn’t of what I would describe a five star resort. The location of the hotel is superb and we absolutely loved the beach house bar on Hastings street. The view from the balcony overlooking the river was breathtaking, Breakfast was pretty good. Overall, not a bad hotel whatsoever, but for the price and the Sofitel brand, I expected more.
