Hotel is not far from JR station (10 min walk). Strategic location to walk to train and shopping street but city sound might make you annoy during night hours. Room is quite dark and cramped. I think their furnitures are too much while brightness is not enough (I need to use my cellphone flashlight LoL). Breakfast area, seats are not enough. Need to wait in peak time and food is just OK not good not bad. Staffs are nice and kindly support any requested.

As an Accor member, I usually prefer to stay at one of the Accor brand hotel unless there is a better option. Seeing that this Hotel is quite new and its close location to Dotonbori, I didn't hesitate to book our stay here. Usually before visiting, I always try to search how the room would look like on tripadvisor and youtube. Seeing the review here, I expected how dark the room was gonna be. I don't like my room to be dark but I don't want to cancel my booking. we stayed the corner room, which has a pretty large window, which makes it much brighter during the day. But at night, the room was really dark. I think that is how the mercure brand ambiance is across Japan. I honestly don't love it, I like my room bright and clean. However, to my surprise the corner room provide us with washing machine and microwave. I planned to do my laundry at the communal washing machine but so happy with the in room washing machine. I also love the japanese style bathroom, I think it makes bathing my kids much easier. There is a family mart across the entrance too. If you look for a nice and new hotel in Dotonbori area and plan to use just sleep in the hotel, not spending much time in it then this is a perfect hotel. BUt if you like to stay in the room and enjoy the room, unless you like a spooky, gothic style hotel then u won't like it as much.

Toilet had more water pressure than the shower...

The rooms are modern and clean, spacious enough to open two large suitcases at the same time. The location is pretty good, within walking distance to either Shinsaibashi or Namba stations. And that's where the positives stop. The water pressure in the shower was so weak, the toilet bidet had better pressure. Spent so long trying to wash off body soap because the water stream was so weak, and still felt like my skin was soapy.

The hotel is very centrally located right in the shinshibashi district in the heart of the action. Namba underground station is close by, as are a number of other transport hubs. The beds are comfy. Some comments were that the beds were hard, but I didn’t find that to be the case. There is a sink in the room which doubles as a washbasin and kitchen sink. Because it’s in the room and not in the bathroom, makes it rather awkward and gives a cluttered feel to the room. The rooms are compact but somehow cosy and comfy. The breakfast selection is relatively poor and repetitive after a few days’ stay. Especially the western selection which only consists of croissants, 2 types of jam and bacon, eggs and sausages. While this is to be expected, I found also the Asian selection rather poor. I would therefore not recommend to have breakfast in the hotel unless you can get it for free. There are plenty of restaurants catering to various cuisines in walking distance. As other reviewers said, the rooms are very, very dark. There simply is not even 1 super bright light that you can switch on when you’re packing or searching for something. This is a big downside. In combination with the dark colours it’s really really dark. Even the only one mirror in the room is made from dark glass, rendering it next to impossible to shave or put on make-up. The staff is very friendly and accommodating but the command of the English language is rather poor. While I can understand that in say the restaurant, it is also the case at the front desk and it really shouldn’t be, given that it’s a Mercure Hotel, i.e. international and not local hotel.

My friends and I were having problem trying to arrange to send our luggage from this hotel to the next. We were advised by the front desk to make an online booking to send the luggage. Unfortunately the platform which was in English was unstable hence we were not able to do the booking ourselves and we were unable to understand Japanese to use the other platform. We really appreciate the kindness and empathy shown to us by Sukaru Tanaka ( member of the hotel) She helped us make the booking and ensure that confirmation was received by us. Everything went so smoothly. Tanaka has displayed excellence in her job. She has extended graciousness, kindness to us seniors and we are grateful to have met her on this trip. We wish her the very best in her career.
